Good Morning.

Hip felt up to doing an exploratory run to see what's up.

Result: Much better, but not good enough. Will try again in 2-3 days.

3 test miles,

Take it easy JJJ. You'll be back at it soon enough!

Today is my tempo day and since this is a cutback week I decided on tempo repeats rather than a continuous tempo run. Nice symmetry on the weather station - 79° 79%.

8 miles with 6 x 1000m at 10K pace (7:40ish), 1 minute recovery jog between each:

7:56

7:52

7:46

7:41

7:41

7:34

These were solidly into the "Aerobic Stamina" range as per Tinman's chart. Those 1 minute recovery times were probably a little short given the H&H but I hung in there. I was probably pretty close to VO2 max on those last few repeats.

Good morning JJJ and those to follow. My hips and IT band were sore this morning so I really babied them and spent more time stretching than running. 2 miles running at 10:30 per mile, 15 minutes walking (w/u & c/d), and then 30 minutes of stretching. Not entirely satisfactory as a workout but it's done and I can check that off my to-do list for today.

We were all out of fruit this morning at home! I have to hit the Korean market at lunchtime near my office and load up on some local goodies.

Enjoy your day, everyone.

Hi Masters!

I might run today.

eta: I just checked out the VRAA teams. While I'm not a fan of large teams because it's too easy for a member to sort of fade into the background and not feel like their contribution is significant (there's 15 on each team) I did notice that the new Commish put all the masters on the same team, so in some respects we are sort of a Masters team.

Have a funky day

I got my lazy vacation butt out for an exploratory run this morning. 53F and 100% RH. I was in a fog. Good thing I stole mc's mittens. 5.5 miles at 7:40/mi.

6.2 super slow miles in the park with my running partner. As much as I appreciated running slowly, at times I found it quite difficult to maintain the pace as running vs. walking. Nice and hot and humid today, so I ran shirtless, first time since putting on all that jiggly belly fat in the past year or so. Getting old sucks. Getting jiggly belly fat is just unpretty.

On a more positive note, a non-running friend of mine just started doing C25K and is so psyched with her progress. She said she needed to get "real" running shoes, so I offered her my 20% off coupon for the local Road Runner Sports store. She's stopping by for it this afternoon on the way to the store. Now that's a success story I'm happy to be a part of. :)

Enjoy the day, all!
DW & I were talking about my shirtless relay leg (#3) at lunch just now. She said something like, "Sorry for your friends they had to see your sunken chest. Your face looks young but your old-man chest makes up for it." Yes, OM, getting old sucks.
