"Jurek is one of a growing legion of (ummm … thrill seekers? masochists?) individuals willing to put their bodies and minds to the test by running extra-long races, often in grueling conditions."<br><br>
I love how we're classified as "thrill seekers and masochists" and never as "determined goal seekers" or "focused accomplishment buffs".

Truly amazing. This dude Jonah Keri had all the bones of a truly great article with Jurek's quotes and stuff, but he's obviously unable to write anything but snarky laugh-up-your sleeve crap. Maybe a journalistic/psych-med conflict.

Umm, do women run ultras? There are exactly one and a half sentences that mention women. Come on. Apart from that and the characterizations of all ultra runners as crazy thrill seekers, I thought the article was ok.

I agree with Mark on this one.<br><br>
Also, to point out that this story is really "old hat". I think I've read this same stuff over the last 2-3 years about Jurek and Karnazes. I think it's great that ESPN is bringing awareness to our sport, but this isn't anything we don't already know from other mags/books/articles and within the community by way of conversation.
