Nothing really for me. Zoe has had some hardcore teething this week with sleepless nights and fevers my feet are finally feeling better from last week's 100. whew. Maybe get a run in later, but not holding my breath I am planning on the Bartram 100 in December and maybe a NYE 24 hour race. I was going to do Motherroad instead of Bartram but after talking to some BTDT folks last week, I decided not to go. One said she had 16.5 miles inbetween aid stations! WTF?

I got dropped off at the side of the road about 50km from Ottawa on Friday night, then ran home. It was a beautiful night with a full moon.

Oh, and Lurker Bob turned out to be camping one space down from me... this man is everywhere! He also had a successful day at Woodstock!

May do a race report in the near future... what's the rule? 1 day per mile?

Ran 24 miles on the trail plus a mile walk on Friday, then ran 12.5 on the road with the local HM training group on Saturday. Getting ready to taper in a couple of weeks for the Dogwood Canyon 50K in Lampe, MO on October 31.

Markc - that sounds awesome. Very cool idea. I'm not confident enough to pull that off. I guess the incentive is there to get to the finish though!

I raced a local half marathon on Saturday. I was aiming for sub-1:40 but came in 1:41:40-something. Still a PR by about a minute so I'll take it. The sudden heat wave and low-mid 80's during the race were not welcome.

Ended up riding the bike for an hour Sunday morning to try to loosen up the left glute. That seemed to work so ran 15 miles on my 3 mile loop. It gets dull, but the ability to stop by the car for water every lap was worth it.

Ugly day in NC - late September is supposed to be a lttle cooler than 97 humid degrees that it hit yesterday afternoon at Hinson Lake 24 hr run. It probably didn't get much below mid -70's for the night either. So after 20-30 miles or so it became apparent that my quest for 100 miles in 24 hours wasn't going to happen, the sandy course beat me up, and I have lost some of the heat acclimation that I had built up in the summer.

So I kept moving the goalposts as I was slowing and needing more time to rest up between loops, and eventually decided that the best that was going to happen was 100K. So ultimately it became a great last long training run before Javelina.

I absolutely love this race and I am looking forward to splashing out the $24 entry fee next year, can't recommend it highly enough.

I was also witness to what could well end up being the fastest 100 of the year - Mike Morton hit 100 in 13:14, and 153 miles total and had a brilliant race

They pulled me from the course at 47 miles, i had a handheld on me as well. I was a bit bummed. I had to hitch a ride back with an aid station volunteer. The VT50 is one of my slowest 50 M finish times (i finished it the year prior to the year I was pulled) of all my 50 mile races. It should probably have a 13 hour cutoff like Pinelands because so many people time out of the VT50 every year. I would not worry too much about your ability to finish. I ran almost identical splits to the year i finished, but the second year they pulled me, the first year they let me go thru, i got there with a minute to spare, the second year i missed it by a couple minutes.
