Considering one for home but I hate cheap stuff, so I'm not looking for a walmart special - because I know I will hate it and not use it and then what's the point?

I bought the Smooth Fitness model CE7.4 a couple of years ago. There was an issue when it was first delivered, and it was a chore getting the attention of their customer service people. But when I finally got through to them, they sent out a repair guy who seemed very knowledgeable and who fixed the problem. About a year into it, my machine developed an annoying squeak. But that was just an issue with the plastic housing rubbing against a moving part. After loosening a couple of screws, blissful silence reigned supreme again. Otherwise, the machine has been solid as a rock. Much better than the equipment I have found in most gyms.

I don't know how tall you are, but this model is especially good for tallish people, and it fits my personal biomechanics like a glove. If I was buying today, I might investigate the latest and greatest model from Smooth, but this one has been a good deal for me. I see it's still offered, just with a few more features. Good value, solid performance, highly recommended.
