DH got me new shoes and pedals for my tt bike which I haven't ridden all summer. He put on Look.....these "are" definitely harder to clip in for me. I was testing them out and the right side is okay, but left tough. But then I went and unclipped both before I was stopped...........uh no !!!!!!!!!

The Looks started that way off for me - no matter how much I fiddled with the adjustable tension, I could never clip out of those things easily, especially the right side (clipping in was no issue.) In fact, I got so frustrated with them, I ended up riding my bike with running shoes for a couple months just so I could get my fitness up.

Funny thing is I went back to trying them a couple weeks back just to see if anything changed. Now I can clip out the right side ones no problem - go figure!

You should practice on a trainer till you are comfortable. My LBS won't even sell me any until they've had me train with them on.
