Does anyone want to join me in a challenge?

I can do about three half-assed non-girly pushups. I'd like to work up to doing 3 sets of 10. Does that seem reasonable? I just did 2 sets of 3, then 4. But they were half pushups. I can't go all the way down.

OMG!!! I just started doing them. I did 2 twice last week and 3 half assed ones on Friday. It is sooooo hard. I can not go all the way down, but i am really working hard to do what i do as of now. I can blast out the girlie ones now though!!!!!!!

Me me! I can only do ~3-4 regular pushups at one time. I can try to keep going after that, but if I go down to where I should I fall, so I normally just do as many as I can and then drop down to modified.

I would love to be able to hammer more out!

Aha!

I've seen special doohickeys in sporting goods stores just for pushups but I've resisted buying them because you can only use them for pushups-a waste of money.

But, dumbells would totally work the same way! I've got plenty of those.

I'm in! I don't know how many macho push-ups I can do. I'll test it out and report back.

I did 20 in a row Sunday before Keith, the trainer told me to quit. I am now trying to do them with feet on resistance ball. Just keeping the thing from rolling away is a workout.

Dumbells will work, and so will doing them on your fist. That's how we did them in karate.

Everyone do a practice set tonight to set your baseline, ok?

I will try them out later too and report in. Good challenge!

I usually do the pilates style like fox-runr mentioned. They are actually harder and challenge the arms more than wide-arm push-ups, although the point isn't to lower as far.

One of my students did 30 macho push-ups the other day. I could not do that.

My triceps are weak.
