<p>To answer your second question:  Not very often.</p>

<p>At my school we have about 3 a year... the homecoming dance, a Middle School dance, and the Prom.</p>

<p>That's pretty much it.</p>

<p>Ha!  That was the longest friggin' song ever.  I don't remember dances ending with it, but it was ALWAYS played.  Through middle school & the first year of high school, I was still going to summer camp.   We always had a dance on the last night of camp.  I remember one particular year being "chased" by some girl who I had zero interest in.  I specifically remember running to hide in the bathhouse during "Stairway to Heaven" because I saw her making her way across the pavilion toward me as the song started.</p>

If that played today, the kids would all look at each other like "the dance is over?" and start to leave, as they'd figure that's just tunes for the tear-down crew.</p>

Seriously....my mother wouldn't let me go once and I went ballistic.....I looked forward to these. They were at the catholic school, so we had to dress up, I used my babysitting money to buy a new outfit every week.

I know the song...that's how my favorite college bar closed up....but after the song ended and if we still lingered the bartender shouted " get the fuk out"
