tonight, spicy turkey burgers, zuchini fries, yellow pepper soup.

yeah, I thought that's what we were having last night, but apparently last night was orange chicken lo mein. which is probably for the best, as I am on my own for dinner tonight (husband is back traveling) so I have to cook.

we bought a new cookbook this week and are working our way through it - so far everything has been delicious.

http://www.amazon.com/Juan-Carlos-Cr...1791277&sr=8-3

Tonight is everyone for themselves...between DD13 playing in a basketball tournament, DD8's dancing lessons, driving them all over the city etc etc, everyone will be eating on the fly.

I'll let you know tomorrow - new recipe from the cookbook we got. Basically looks like you make them like any other oven baked fries, except you use zucchini. I'm hoping they'll be good.

I made pasta+pesto+meatballs last night, so like day follows night I need to make lasagna w/ home made noodles tonight to use up the leftover ingredients.

I told my son (age 6) that he was about to inherit responsibility for feeding the children if I hear any more complaints about my cooking, he looked a little stricken.

So sis said....
Ok, YOU make dinner.
And made her do it...
all of it (except lifting of heavy/hot stuff).

Griping ended.

I have a long work day then baby sitting tonight for one of my friends kids. I don't know what I'm going to have because I go right over there after work and there isn't any fast food at all in between and their fridge is scary.

Call for orders!!

Sometimes, after I teach, I'll call somewhere for takeout. It's generally read by the time I drive by....
easy dinner.

Leftovers form Tuesday night, I'm in a bad mood right now and can't be bothered to think about it. Plus my daughter is throwing up everywhere and DH is out of town.

Not a clue... I have a big roast in the fridge. I need to throw it in the crockpot with something before I leave for work in an hour. Still need to get the dog ready for work, so not much time!

How do y'all know what you're making for dinner, ahead of time? I have to look in the fridge, examine my options, then ask The Girls what they'd prefer.

Sometimes I have to make one dinner for D'Wife and another one for D'Kid.

Yuck Kate, I can see why dinner isn't the first thing on your mind right now. Hope your daughter is better soon - and that you don't catch it.

Vege pasta with a cheesy (not cheezy) sauce at our house tonight. A salad, and maybe some bread with olive oil and crazy salt.

Here's the only problem with that.... we have one restaurant in town that serves after 6pm... actually it's a bar and when an unescorted female walks in heads turn, talking stops and all you can hear are crickets chirping until some jackass says "fresh meat".

I live in a town where the sidewalks roll up at 430.... aka cocktail hour.

we have no kids, which makes things easier. the dog will eat anything.

we meal plan on the weekend, and shop specifically for ingredients for those meals. if we didn't, there would be no food in my house AND we end up never knowing what we "feel like" eating. right now I have a list for this week, and a partial list for next week.

if I don't plan and shop specifically, I eat crap and gain weight. right now, the only things in my fridge that are not specifically purchased ingredients for a meal (or leftovers) is a six pack of guiness, some salad stuff in case I'm still hungry after I eat dinner, and a door full of random bottles of soy sauce, hot sauce, salsa and salad dressing.

there aren't even generally leftovers, since we only make enough for 2 or 4 servings (depending on whether or not my husband is on the road) and I eat one serving for dinner, and the other for lunch the next day.

I do have some staples in the pantry (canned goods etc) but not very many. It's much easier to overcome evening boredom munching when you have to leave the house to buy something to munch on.
