Today I get home early so I can make dinner Thank God! New work schedule has meant DH has been doing it and he isn't exactly in the hang of it yet......

Turkey Empanadas & Salad

TXDave: I LOVE Al Amatriciana! It is a standard Friday night dinner in our house!

Hobey: See recipe below

http://www.wineexp.com/Library/recip...07-14-06.shtml

I make and can my own tomato sauce in the summer and just saute pancetta & onion in olive oil, then add my sauce and extra red pepper......so I don't follow this recipe exactly.

Yum, Julie. These threads always make me hungry no matter what time of the day I look in here. I can't wait to start canning my own tomatoes this summer - we're planning a mega garden.

Tonight I'm home early too, so I'm finally making the mushroom soup that was supposed to be for Tuesday until I had to pick Matt up and get the car towed. (we wolfed down cereal instead). So soup, salad and portugese bread.

Julie: I've actually got that book & recipe though I'm always on the lookout for other people's takes on it. Though I love Mario and have made that recipe, I haven't yet made one that comes close to the version I had at Trattoria Matricianella in Rome. Could be the location. I've been thinking of going up to Seattle one of these days and getting some guanciale from Daddy Mario's Salumi shop to make al Amatriciana.

Dinner tonight is Thai red curry chicken, sliced cucumbers, jasmine rice.

I'm going to get some XC skiing in and skip out on making dinner, but I'll have it all ready to roll--steaks under the broiler (too cold for the grill) and some sort of vegtable or the other plus home made bread.

Looks like blue extra wax for today!

I love these threads, give me good ideas, if not for tonight, for the tomorrow or the day after...

Tonight is a grab and run night, weight training after work then massage. Maybe some of that peanut butter chicken/veggies and some rice that my bf made yesterday...

Errr... or maybe I'll crash Hobey's dinner... Sounds YUMMY.

I don't normally post on the dinner threads because I do not cook unless it is on the grill.
BUT tonite I am going out for a 5 course meal with paired wines at a really nice Italian restaurant. I have managed to coordinate this with a rest day from training. Eat your hearts out I will be.

Well, tonight is the big night!!! The Spirit of the Marathon is in theatres nationwide, and only for tonight, so no cooking for me. Going out with friends from the tri club and then we are all hitting the movie. Can't wait!!
