How do you do that?

There is this co-worker of mine who tells everything I do to other people in the organization. I am currently afraid to do or say anything while she is around which is kinda hard because she sits directly next to me and we are only separated by a cube-type wall.

I already had a gut feeling about her and now, I am finding out why. She is just a wunderbitch (you should hear the attitude she gives some people who she feels she has some kind of one-up on) and I'd like to just be able to ignore her as that is my usual self-defense mechanism, but unfortunately, I occasionally may need to talk to her about ya know work stuff.

In this case, I might talk to someone who's been there a while and see how they work with this person.

I would say something like "I'm usually not shy, but I have a hard time talking to ______. How do you approach her?"

You need a "cone of silence" so she can't hear you!

Or, what ASG said

She doesn't need to be your friend to work with her. You both just need to do your jobs and remain respectful during the workday. You have no other obligation than that. If you have to treat her with kid gloves in order to work with her, take the issue a little bit higher, like maybe copy your boss on all emails with her and keep all correspondence with her in writing. If she holds her services hostage because of likes/dislikes, she's the one with the problem and your superiors should be dealing with her.

But I'm at the point in my life where I just don't give a damn anymore and more than likely, I'd rather start something just for fun. So I think I'd start telling her everything I do, all day long, and beat her to the punch.

"Hey PITA Co-worker; I'm going to be putting coversheets on the TPS reports and then I'll be distributing them to everyone on this list. Just so you know and so you can let everyone else know."

Deal with the best that you can, I guess.

Lots of teachers around here, and at my previous job who drove me crazy.

Just do the best you can. You can't change them.

Define "professional setting".

Cause I'm thinking professional wrestling and I'd solve that problem with a body slam off the top turnbuckle.

Ignore her. Ask her the stuff you need to for work, stay out of her way at all other times.

I agree with what ym wrote.

Except, I would change the last part to, "Hey PITA Co-worker can let everyone know that I'm putting coversheets on the TPS reports and then I'll be distributing them to everyone on this list? Thanks a million!" As if she's telling everyone on your behalf.

Nope. I assist the VP who recently "resigned," and my cube is directly outside of that office.
How much would one of those cost me?!?!!

Uh oh, what happened?
Of course you can! Nettie is here to help!
That's something to think about it. Instead of stressing myself out, I should try to have some fun with this. I will let y'all know how it goes...

See, that's what I want to do, but I do need to be able to continue my glamorous lifestyle and paychecks help with that.

She might then attempt to smack the black off of me.

No, seriously, she honestly said that about another woman that works with us and then followed it up with, but I'm not racist.

Can't. Stand. Her.

I don't tolerate that shit...but especially not in the work place...there is absolutely no excuse for her behavior.
