Well I guess it is my turn. I work nights so I am posting this now. I might not get back to it until tomorrow afternoon.

QUESTIONS

1. Why do you run? I started running for fitness, and discovered I enjoyed it.
2. What is your greatest accomplishment? So far my greatest running accomplishment was a 7 mile walk/run combination. It let me see how far I have come since I started running. Work wise - getting through training in my new department with out making any errors. No one before or since has managed that. Personally - coming to terms with the fact that I am a wonderful person with a lot to offer. I had/have self-esteem issues and it took me a long time to be able to say that and really feel it.
3. What is your motto/theme song? I don't really have one.
4. How do you deal with bad runs? I tell myself that at least I am running and the next one will be better.
5. Do you reward yourself for good runs? How? I don't reward myself for each good run because that is a reward in itself, but I will reward myself for each milestone I pass. I will buy myself a new gadget or book to celebrate.
6. Who do you admire most? People who put their lives on the line to benefit others. Police officers, fire fighters, and of course members of our Armed Forces.
7. What is the greatest advice you have ever received? To be myself. To like myself. To embrace this life I have and live it to the fullest.
8. What do wish you had learned younger? See above. I could have saved myself alot of heartache if I had learned that lesson years ago.
9. What do you wish you could do but can't? I actually try to focus on what I can do instead of what I can't do.
10. How would your friends describe your personality? Loyal, kind, friendly, an introvert with a dry sarcastic sense of humor. *grin*
11. What do you wear running? favorite outfit? In my house just a sports bra and compression shorts. The 2 times I have ran out side I wore a sports bra with a tech shirt over it, and compression shorts with looser running shorts over them.
12. What has been your favorite race? I have yet to run one so I don't have a favorite.
13. Do you have a goal race right now? I have a goal to finish the Eugene Half-Marathon. Even if I have to walk some of it, my goal is to finish.
14. What makes you happy? running, reading, my dog, my friends, the 30's and many other things I don't have time or space to type out.
15. Tell us one interesting thing about you that you haven't said (at least not often) on this forum in the past. I am pretty open about everything, and I am not really all that interesting. I guess I will have to go with the fact that I am an avid reader. I read at least 2 books a week and I carry a book in my car for the long red lights at the train crossing. *grin* I have taken books to football games (my dad hassled me the whole time) and to weddings.
16. Tell us one interesting thing about another user of this forum that has not been posted (at least not often) on this forum in the past (make sure the other person will not object to posting the info!).
Ummm I don't have an answer to this one.

Well that is the list of questions. Feel free to ask more if you like. I do want to say, that I have been reading the POTD's when I get a chance and I have enjoyed them all. I feel like I have gotten to know this group a lot better and I am glad I ventured out of the 30's threads to lurk/join you all here.

Dankinia... just as long as you don't bring a book to the Eugene Half... that might get a reaction.

I used to read books while walking down the street, as did my brother. The neighbours found that hilarious. I didn't see the humour.

Thanks for the post!

It must be common to those of us with "Dan" in our screen names.

It was nice to get to know you a little better, Dankinia

I love your answer to #2 for your greatest personal accomplishment. That is a victory to be celebrated!!

And, I'm going to have to also disagree on #15.

I agree with Orange Shorts' agreement with Jack Duggan's disagreement.

Very nice POTD, Dankinia and it's nice to get to know you! Hooray for your greatest accomplishments. Each of the three are impressive milestones!

And I think it's fascinating that you read so much! There have been books I didn't want to put down, but I never took them anywhere, I just found ways to not go anywhere until I was done.

What types of books do you read? What are your favorites? Do you buy/keep all the books you read? Are you the PRT Library?

Thank you all for the positive comments on my POTD.

lol I would run into something or get hit by a car if I tried to read while walking.

I would love to run outside more, but my work schedule makes it a bit hard. Now that it is getting cooler here I am going to try to get in some afternoon runs on the weekends outside.

The ones I take with me are the paperback romance novels. Very easy to put down. I read a lot of Women's Fiction (Janet Evanovich, Jennifer Cruise, Lori Foster etc.....) I also like westerns and mysteries. It just depends on my mood. I will read non-fiction books if the subject interests me.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this.

Thanks so much for a great POTD. I really like what you had to say about a great run being reward in itself!!!

I agree with Jack, you sound very interesting!

same message as oache - hope to see you take that running outside. there's nothing like taking a full breath of fresh air after accomplishing new milestones.
