<p>In late June I finally accepted that there's not really a shortcut to being fast on the bike and I started riding more miles. </p>

<p>Before then it was around 50-60/week and I was seeing gains but not as fast as I wanted. (Still not fast enough to make up for my slow swim.)</p>

<p>So far in July, I have about 420 miles with the last 2 weeks being 155 and 123. Probably still not high mileage to some of you, but quite a bit for me.</p>

<p>I have a duathlon a week from Saturday. It's 2.5 mi run/18.6 mi bike/2.5 mi run.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>I'm thinking for this week I should keep the miles around 100 or so with a long ride, and an interval ride, but not sure about the week of the race.</p>

<p>I'm feeling pretty good - not feeling exhausted or overtrained, but I want to go into the race fresh.</p>

<p>What type of workouts & mileage would you suggest for race week?</p>
