Ok...
I mostly like it because I get to feel like I"m going fast.
SOmetimes, I actually DO go fast, too. (I hit 25-ish going downhill this morning!)

There was an event today that I used for my ride....I figured I'd do the event, make use of the police protection at the intersections. I didn't figure I'd do anything except ride at a comfortable pace.... maybe try to remember to spin a bit more up hills.....and remember to drink.

Yay.
I did the 22 mile distance (others were 3.5 and 11 miles).

I got 2nd! whoooo hooo.....Is it bad to say I wasn't trying to race? Others were....I saw them drafting and pace lining and all that....but, I just wanted to feel like I got a decent workout without being totally dead.

One of the nice guys who does the organized Sat am runs took pictures.

Pictures from the event can be found at:
http://share.shutterfly.com/action/w...r&linkid=link4

I'm the one wearing the orange whistle on the front of her jacket.

This was the first year that this event was held...the field appeared to be sorta small, but it was a fun thing to do. WEather was AWESOME!!!! Cold to cool waiting for everything to get going, but once the sun came all the way up, it was gorgeous. It was paired with a 10K/1mile run as well.

Not the furtherest EVER....but the furtherest in 8 years.
They say that whatever I did 8 years ago doesn't count anymore....its effect has worn off.
(*shrug*)

I loooove that name....
BABC

lol

This will likely be my "figure out where you are" season.
Then....who knows.
I've got stuff planned almost every month....thru June, then nothing till the marathon in Nov.

I'm not sure how to put together a "season" other than just pick stuff that sounds good. That being said...I think in a larger field....I wouldn't place as well. Still. I had fun!!

There's a lot to be said for bike-culture ... I can't see people making such things as this out of running shoes.

Maybe but...

For me, running is a HUGELY social thing. I run with Iron Boy and The Diesel and Seabisquit and... And we talk the whole way and the miles wiz by and I make friends.

When I bike, I talk with my friends at the stops. It's not as good. Yah, the pedaling beats the running but... It's not as good socially. The only thing worse is swimming.

LRR if you learned to talk like Aquaman you could make all kinds of friends in the water

Agreed I like going fast, I can do that on the bike, not so much when I run.

But I usually run solo. If you have a friend that runs your pace, its fantastic. Just doesnt happen often.

WTG, on the hardware Stitch. The only bike races we have around here are serious biker events, not for me. That event looked low key and fun.

Cashmason...
Tou hit it on the head.
Yes, LRR running can be more social, but only if you have folks close to your pace.
If I'm gonna be alone, I'd rather be successful than last.
Swimming though, here's nothing like swimming!! At least for me.

My favorite part of cycling is the sheer amount of territory you can cover. You see a lot more on a bike ride than you can on a run. Way to go with the race!

I actually miss cycling more than running. Never thought I'd say that. Can't wait to get back on the back.

edit - I mean bike. Whatever.

Can you post another pic of you listening to your knee and see when it wants to go riding again?

Gah, I wish I could bike outside. But that's not gonna happen anytime soon. I keep asking myself - Now why did I stay in the midwest again?
