I was thinking about this at lunch time the other day while at work. What stupid/crazy things have you done in order to squeeze in an extra 30 (more or less) minutes of training?<br><br>
God, I hope no one I know reads this. I've spent 20$ to take a taxi to work so I coud train an extra 30 minutes when I was having a good week.

I've not eaten after run intervals, then went and taught a 5 hour class to a bunch of senior level project managers, because I was running late (yuk yuk). If you could have measured my blood sugar at the end of class, it's say "0.00000001"<br><br>
I'm hoping I was coherent, they seemed to like the class whatever I did.

ronbo--I've done one of those... Got up stinkin' early to get a 9m run in, then had an 8am dr's appt. Of course, hadn't eaten before the run, then scarfed something quickly on the way to the doctors. Standing in the hallway looking at the xray, I promptly fainted... Luckily, doctor is a runner and I explained what had happened. Basically he said that was pretty stupid. Duh...

Let's see...<br>
Maybe sending DW to drink with her girlfriends? Like her coming home and asking what are our plans, and I ask her... didn't you say you were going to happy hour with X or Y? Enjoy your margarita... I can handle this. Then as soon as she's out, I get out to run and go to the gym <img alt="smile.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/smile.gif">

Probably nothing more crazy than getting up stupid early to get a run/ride in - i think 3:45am was my earliest, but I think that's normal by some people's standards!

A couple of weekends ago I needed to get in a long run but I was watching the kids. So I put Finding Nemo in the DVD player in the basement and the girls sat in chairs on the rug between the treadmill and the TV. They got to watch their movie, they were where I could watch them and I got my run done. DW even approved.

dougie reminded me - SEVERAL times I have reviewed DS7's homework, or helped him with his homework while running on the dreadmill<br><br>
Also, have "helped" DS7 with computer games, Guitar Hero 3, etc while on the dreadmill<br><br>
I guess I don't even consider these unusual anymore <img alt="biggrin.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/biggrin.gif">

Kids watching a movie or playing a video game while I ride the trainer or run on the tm is pretty standard here. Everyone is happy.<br>
Last summer I realized I could schedule 2 weeks of day camp for them that conveniently fell during my peak training period. They are going back this year too. Kids have fun at camp and mom gets to train all day. Everyone is happy.

I thought including the kids in my workouts was "normal". I've had a kid ride along while I ran when I didn't have anyone to watch him.<br><br>
We've done the movie thing while I worked out on the trainer.<br><br>
I've also put a kid on the tag-a-long so I could get a ride in. No speed drills there, but one hell of a strength workout!<br><br>
I've done runs stupid early where I had to do numerous out-and-backs because it's the only safe place to run.<br><br>
I've driven through snow and ice to get to a neighborhood that actually believes in plowing/salting their roads. And then running that 2.6m loop up to 6 times.<br><br>
I don't think any of these are all that unreasonable. Just a way of getting things done!

Oh good, I'm not the only wacked out one.<br><br>
I volunteer to do ALL night-time deployments (2-3 times a month) so that I can have daylight/non-busy hours (gym is open) to train longer... !<br><br>
I used to belong to 2 gyms (about 2000$ total a year) to make sure I had somewhere to swim/train nearly every day of the year and any hour that I wanted to...
