I am looking forward to it but a bit nervous. I have been running a lot but haven't done any biking. I just want to compete and finish. It is a 2 mile run 10 mile bike and 2 mile run. Short distances so I should be able to pull it off. We have to use a mountain bike so it should be interesting. I haven't done one in years and hope to do more this season. I also want to start competing in some triathalons though I hate the swimming!!

I'm sure you meant duathlon.

If there is any chance you could borrow or rent a road bike for the event, you may end up having a much better time and more fun. 10 miles on a bike with no training shouldn't present much difficulty if you have a real solid running base.

Enjoy yourself!

Thanks, I actually have a road bike too but they say you can only use a mountain bike for the event. I talked with someone yesterday and he said a friend of his is also doing it. I asked if there were some trails on the ride and he said he didn't think so. They just want to keep it slow and fair so they said only mountain bikes. Have you ever heard of this??
