I was depressed for a little while.

Georgia Tech was crushed by Miami 35-10.

And for awhile it looked like UGA might beat Auburn which further depressed me.

But Auburn came through, so it's not all bad today.

Hey Reb

I was at the Tech Game. I was looking around the stadium in the last 5 minutes of the game to see if you were one of the eleven non-Miami fans in the place.

We had Club Lounge seats on the 43 yard line. Do you have any idea what those seats cost? I know there is a "donation" involved.

After watching a good part of the Auburn game at the Varsity I'm thinking that if Aubrun paid $200K for him it was a steal of a deal.

Up until last year I had club level seats right on the 50 yard line, row 10, section C3. The donation is $600.00 per seat in addition to the amount of the season tickets. I gave them up because since I don't drink beer or wine (each tickets gets two free drinks of their choice) the alcohol factor was not a big deal with me. Also, I got tired of the sun during the noon and 1:00 games so I moved over to the upper west where we get the shade starting around 1:30.

As for the Miami game itself it seemed like coaching was non-existent at times. Every time Tech stopped Miami on 3rd down they did some stupid penalty to give them a first down. And then the two fumbles within the Miami 20 yard line just killed any momentum Tech had.

Oh well, next week Duke comes to town. Assuming GT beats them, it looks like we'll be going to the Independence Bowl in Shreveport. Yuck!

Of couse, if we beat UGA, we'll consider the season a huge success, but if the Tech defense does not learn that Division 1 collegiate football involves actually tackling runners, it's going to be a looong day in Athens.

Purdue Lost again! They had their chances against the Wolverines but everytime the defense made a stop, the offense would turn the ball right over.

So what is the face value of the tickets? I notice there is no price on them.

You sure have the sun thing nailed. It was nice yesterday, but a bit overwhelmingly bright by the third quarter. I can only imagine how little fun it would be for a noon start on a Saturday in September.

GT might be advised to add a passing play or two to their offense since sweep right/left seems to either gain 8 or lose 5....and lose 5 was the usual result on third down. They also had a Miami fumble recovery for a TD overturned or that one might have gone badly a lot earlier.

Miami isn't that good. I'm happy I will be in Colorado when GT travels to Athens. I don't think that one is gonna be pretty.

Last night those Duckies looked pretty mediocre. I was looking forward to their game. Of course all teams usually have a few bumps along the road. After all Auburn beat Kentucky 37-34 a few weeks ago.

BTW has anyone seen a false start on the kicker before? That was weird....and may have cost Cal the game.

GT does not print the prices on the tickets because the price is different depending upon the game (i.e. Middle Tennesse State tickets and Duke are cheaper than Miami or VT tickets) and whether the seat is located in a Tech Fund area of the stadium.

Specifically in your case the ticket was $80.00 for the seat you were in. If someone walked up to the ticket booth and bought a ticket in a non Tech Fund area (North End zone and corners of the stadium) the ticket would have been $60.00. For Duke next Saturday a ticket is $45.00 in a non Tech Fund area and $65.00 in a Tech Fund area. South Carolina State and Middle Tenn State $25.00 non Tech Fund area and $45.00 Tech Fund area.

To boost sales for games that don't look like they are going to have a low attendance GT sometimes offers specials such as family packs on the tickets in non Tech Fund areas. For example they may (or may not) decide for the Duke game to offer a "family deal" of 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs and 4 cokes for say, $65.00 or so. And in years past they would throw in a tee shirt and GT cap with the deal, although I haven't seen that this year. Thus it's simply easier not to print prices on the tickets as they can fluctuate.

Basketball tickets follow the same pattern. Prices depend if the seat is in a Tech Fund area of the coliseum or not. GT hasn't printed ticket prices on the face of the tickets for a couple of years now.

Yup, that's sums up what the teams in the major conferences face. There's enough talent on just about every team such that if they show up inspired, especially at home with a good crowd and they get a few good bounces or calls...

It's not being acknowledged in the press too much, but our "automatic" kicker missed 2 last night, including one from the same distance that Cal faced. We were darned fortunate to hand Cal their first home loss this year. The Cal D-line played great.

I went to our game vs South Carolina on Saturday. Too bad our team didn't show up. I think that was the ugliest performance I've ever seen our team give. Heads will roll.

But hey, good for the Ol' Ball Coach. If we couldn't win the division, I'm glad it was him...

I kind of like South Carolina this year. The QB has been so maligned the past couple of years by media, fans and Spurrier from time to time. It is nice to him making it to the championship game. If I can get a ticket I might watch USC and Auburn at the Dome.
