There is no NCAA championship for top level football. Only a BCS championship.

If TCU and Boise boycotted, the nationwide collective yawn would be deafening.

Moonie, our 2nd half is much harder than our first half. We still have to go to USC (26), Cal (who knows which team will show up?) and OSU (34) for the Civil War. Plus Arizona (15) at home. I'm assuming that UCLA and Washington will be our "easier" games, but Texas and Syracuse might not agree.

Oh believe me, I'm not saying it's not going to be tougher this second half (Cal and USC are schizophrenic to say the least, Arizona is no gimme, and the Beavers will be a doozy regardless of rankings)

All I'm saying is the heft to beef up the resume isn't as great as the other schools (especially the SEC and Big 12 schools). If it came down to, say, Oregon, Oklahoma and LSU or Auburn winning out, the quick calculations in my head say Oregon loses out.

Interestingly, that could set up another match of unbeatens in the Rose Bowl - in the same vein as Oregon, Michigan State has pretty much no shot at a BCS championship game unless they're the only unbeaten major conference team left, simply based on who's left on their schedule.

It's an interesting topic right now, trying to figure out which teams control their own destinies. The most obvious choices are Auburn and LSU. There's no way an undefeated SEC team wouldn't play for the national championsip. Oklahoma probably controls their own destiny too. They're on top of the BCS now, and still have a few more tough Big XII games to get through.

Boise St and TCU/Utah? Nope, they need all the other undefeated teams to lose. (Well, all but one, of course). They'll also fall behind Alabama if they win out.

I'm pretty sure that Auburn and LSU will both lose at some point, so I think Oregon is in pretty good shape if they win out. Michigan State and the Missouri/OK State winner are somewhere behind them.

It'll be really hard for anyone besides these teams to make it to the championship game. Ohio State, Wisconsin and Stanford might all have a slight chance, but they'd need a lot of things to happen...

I think you are right on track Gator.

Boise State should win out and will be hard to overlook if there are NO other unbeaten teams

Oregon will be in if they win out. Their big test will be in two weeks against USC who'd probably love to put Oregon out of the picture.

Oklahoma-Missouri this week is huge...both still face some tough games

The SEC is a mess...good grief Georgia could win and have 4 losses. I don't think LSU is that good...Auburn might be.

If TCU beats Utah they will be home free to go unbeaten. If Utah beats TCU they still have to play Notre Dame who aren't that good, but could be problematic.

I'm going for a BCS Championship of Boise State vs Oklahome...a rematch of the greatest football game I ever saw, the 2007 Fiesta Bowl.

We are overrated.

Love my Badgers; but I'm thinking that we'll lose a close one at Kinnick Stadium [the infamous pink visitors' locker room!] this Saturday, which will drop us out of the top 15 for the remainder of the season.

Wisconsin coach Bielema, an Iowa alum, has a Hawkeye tattoo on his calf. Kirk Ferentz's team has tattooed Wisconsin the past two seasons, but the Badgers are much more physical this time around. It's a matter of whether they avoid a post-Ohio Sate hangover.

Take those Notre Dame mid-season games with Pac-10 (or Pac-12) teams with a grain of salt. We've been informed that our pending schedules are not to be considered set yet until they approve the conference alignment.

That pink locker room at Iowa is just sooo unfair. Guys probably can't poop or pee there and by the time they hit the field they are full of mellow.

The NFL is lovin' the pink; perhaps the Badgers can one-up the Hawkeyes by embracing the pinkness and adding some FLASH to our travel uniforms?
