Should I stay or should I go now?

If I stay there will be trouble, if I go there will be double...

Here's the situation. Keen-eyed PRT denizens will realize that the weather in Calgary has reached a level of suckitude that is unparallelled... um, this year. (it can be pretty sucky any time, but that's Calgary).

So, we have a window of opportunity to go camping tonight (in the van), hike a bit tomorrow and then catch up with friends in the evening. Most of the same friends might join us for a hike. But it will likely be cloudy and drizzly and in the mountains some of that white stuff that falls from the sky might actually do so.

The alternative is to stay in town, dull and boring and omnipresent, but get a practice in for next week's folk club performance. We could squeeze one in tomorrow after the hike... but...

So should I be responsible and stay or should I be the eternal irritating optimistic and go?

Wife came up with the brilliant idea of practicing first, then driving out at 9:00, we arrived in a nearly deserted campsite at about 10, and woke up to this, not 30 yards behind our site:

And here's a pic from our hike. Our destination is the peak to the far right in the panorama.

And looking back after 4 hours. The summit isn't what appears to be the highest part of the ridge. Because the ridge is at an angle, the little nubbin to the right is the actual summit.
