Hey all

not to much going on yet. I've caught the super motivation bug so I started building a rock garden last night to put some hen and chick's in but I ran out of rocks so then I raked the yard and burned leaves and tried to get my mower started which it wont. So I will have to work on that tomorrow night and hopefully get everything done then!

I knew if I started a thread some one else was going to start one too!!! I may join the neighbor for a margarita tonight if they are around. I'm kind of hoping that it doesn't rain like they are saying it's going to because I really need to light up the bonfire pit!!

Apparently nobody is partaking in anything, since nobody has posted yet!

Actually, I am going out tonight. But it has nothing to do with Cinco de Mayo. I'm meeting a couple buddies for dinner and beers, and today just happens to be a day that we all have free.

When I got married just over 11 years ago, we went to Cancun for our honeymoon. And thus we were in Mexico for Cinco de Mayo that year. We were expecting big parties, but it turned out that Cinco de Mayo isn't a big deal in Mexico. Yeah, it's the anniversary of a victory in a battle against the French. But the "real" holiday in Mexico (their Independence Day) is some time in September, I think. We were told by the native Mexicans then that Cinco de Mayo is really an invention of the American beer companies to sell more beer. Just like what they did with St Patrick's Day...

But that doesn't mean I won't raise a Corona or two tonight.

No plans for tonight but last night was good fun with some of DH's students. They passed the national certification exam so we bought the beers! This was followed by wonderful Indian food. Tummy happy!

hola, chicos! amigos! como estas?

I have a dinner date tonight. But not at a mexican place, although he said he could be pursuaded. :)

Of course, I've either come down with a cold or my allergies have kicked in because I am stuffy, scratchy-throated, and a little spacey. Ah well...I've gone out with this guy once before, so he's already had a first impression and while it's taken 2+ months to get together again (vacations, schedules, etc), he must like me enough to want to go out again.

The kids and I had Mexican food for dinner last night and brought leftovers home. All the fun, none of the crowds!

Today is already better than yesterday. Hooray! Off to a meeting...hopefully it won't cause a turn for the worst!

No Cinco de Mayo fun here, though maybe I'll stop on the way home and get the fixings for some Mexican-ish food for dinner. :) Today is my niece's 18th birthday though. And last night I realized that 4 years ago today was the 1st day I met any of you in person, including Moonie, at the expo for the Flying Pig. My strongest memory of that first meeting was walking through the hallway outside the expo with my friend Nick, and seeing a group of people. I was looking, trying to figure out if it was you guys, when KP let out a big "KRIS!". Yup. I'd found you.

Dang, I was skinny back then. A little bit of fluff has found me as my running has slackened.

Morning, my friends. Tonight is the string ensemble's final rehearsal for the season and we're having a pot-luck dinner before we play. I'm making two things, so I need to figure out how much time I need to get everything to come out at the right time. It was funny because I was watching tv last night when my doorbell rang. When I answered it, our violist was standing there with a big pot of white rice. He couldn't believe he was the first person to arrive. I just stared at him open-mouthed because he was 24 hours early! We usually rehearse on Wednesday, but we moved it to tonight for some reason. So, he has another rehearsal tonight and won't be able to make it. We sound really dumb without him. Oh, well. We're only playing for ourselves tonight.

My brother has two daughters, and both of them were born on May 5, though 6 years apart. I hope they have fun today.

My only other fun is that I'm taping a segment for a local Sunday news show this afternoon. Otherwise, I'm tidying the house. A nap may be in order as well.

Wippy - can you tell me where you found all that energy? I'd love to stockpile a bit of that! :)

Hi all - wow, Kris' pic brings back some memories. I think I was still going through some of my old (i.e. larger) wardrobe at the time - those jeans look like parachutes on me. Speaking of pics, loved the kiddos' pics yesterday!

And speaking of kiddos, my nephew was almost about to drive me nuts (in more ways than one) the other night. I was catching the new episode of Mythbusters when this cat-adorned pistachio ad (BTW, check out the humorous mock literary quotations in the commentary if you do look at the link) came on during the break. He thought it was the funniest thing ever and wanted me to rewind it over and over again so he could watch it. Finally, I got him to agree to sit at the computer, where I found him the video online and he could play it to his heart's content, thus relieving me being driven completely pistachios...er, nuts.

No Cinco de Mayo festivities for me. Actually, that does remind me of something that totally corroborates boB's experience. I've seen this flyer posted on a light pole next to the Ferry Bldg. here advertising a local "Cinco De Drinko" event. I just find it a bit amusing that this is all being held at a place called Mas Sake.

Good days to you all!

Funny, that same weekend as the big Pig meet-up was a decent sized one in Philly for the Broad Street Run. We all tailgated after the race and enjoyed P-Tom's baked ziti, lots of great baked cookies and cold beers. Awwww, good times, good times.

Shannon - congrats on the positive changes and clothes fitting better!

Fun: no Cinco celebrations for me but our co's founder is treating our team to a couple cold bevvies after work in celebration of a very successful product launch (a couple weeks ago)

well it's keeping my mind off of other things that are going on which I will be able to report on tomorrow hopefully. But I'm hyper cleaning in effort to keep my mind off of stuff. So really if I lived anywhere near you I'd totally be cleaning out your cupboards and packing stuff up for the charity shops. I just wish it wasn't going to be raining today or I'd totally get the rock garden done. I really have to do laundry too or I'm going to end up at mothers day naked... not good at all.

in random news...

when I got dressed this morning, I threw on a little black shirt waist dress, nothing special but I figure if I don't change before my date tonight, it'll look good enough. It's short enough to show off my legs (which aren't a bad asset on me) and fits pretty well on top, etc etc etc...only I realized last time I vacuumed, I accidentally sucked the damn fabric tie belt off my dresser into the vac!

I wore a different belt today but I don't think it looks as good.
