<p>You folks in Murka measure it all funny and all.  The rest of the world measure it in single digits, and you measure it in 100s.  I think one way is  kilogram per megaparsec and the other is degree Celsius per kilofram.</p>

<p>At any rate, what's a good rating on the US scale?  I'm speaking both of total cholesterol and LDL.</p>

<p>For overall cholesterol, below 200 mg/dL ( 5.2 mmol/L).  LDL is more complicated.  It depends on your risk factors.  Most people should aim for below 130 mg/dL (3.4 mmol/L).  But if you are at a higher level of risk for heart disease, you might want to aim for 100 mg/dL (2.6 mmol/L) or even 70 mg/dL (1.8 mmol/L). </p>
