With registration opening in 2 days, I thought I'd start a thread where we can keep track of who is coming and whatnot. I live about 2-3 blocks from the finish this year!

Anywho, who is coming???

I would run it, but it's $110 and I've already done it. I am thinking about it though.

Marathoners
Had planned on doing it in '08 but after what happened last year am thinking I'll wait until '09. Let all the revenge seekers have at it first.

Revenge seeker here. I'm pretty positive I'm doing it. I've gotten my business travel schedule and have nothing that weekend. Funny enough, I'll be in Chicago on business the week after.

I'm ready to kick that race right in the friggin' teef!

I'm about 60% right now...I really had only planned to do HMs this year and work on my speed and poundage before getting my Chicago revenge. Which, by the way, will probably be the first and last 26.2 that I do. I think. Maybe. I'm going to wait and see how my summer tri schedule goes; if my goal race comes too close to peak marathon training I'll probably skip Chicago this year.

Voo, Maria, did you guys finish?

I pulled myself out just before the HM mark. I felt awful! Little sis #2 made it all the way to mile 26.1 and only a couple minutes off a BQ only to collapse. It was not a feel good day for the Pfeiffer clan

Voo finished it in 2005 but his back was pretty f'ed up so he had a bad race....at least that is what I recall him saying before we drank heavily.

Biah - Jhi is POTD in the PRT today.

that's right LL, he had to jump the snow fence to get into the start, didn't he?

I know he was very disappointed in his race and beat himself up pretty heavily about it.

I finished in 5:03-something. It was a death march from mile 11 on. I thought about quitting at mile 6.

It actually was about a 6-foot-tall chain link fence. I couldn't find my way into the corral and it was getting late. There were a bunch of people climbing the fence to get in so I followed them. I did one of those two-footed leaps over and tweaked my back when I landed, which got worse as the race progressed. I also was battling a nasty case of plantar fasciaitis.

Everything about the race was so awesome except my running. That was frustrating.

Chicago '05 was my first marathon. It's funny that so many of you were there, but I didn't know you guys yet. I too had to climb a fence in order to get to the corral. It wasn't a 6-foot chain link fence, but it was still a little annoying. Maggie even got a picture of me doing it. I'll see if I can find that pic once I get home.

I did a 4:27 in that race. That's my slowest martahon, so I might say that I need "revenge", like some of you others. But it was my first one, so it makes sense that it was my slowest. And since I want to do the 50 state thing, I've got a lot of other states that I need to hit...

I loved the race, and I highly encourage everyone to do this one. But I think I'll be sainvg my Chicago "revenge" for a few more years down the road...

I'm toying with this as my fall marathon...how fast does it fill up? I'm trying to recruit either a friend of mine who lives in the Chicago area and/or my brother. So, I'm a definate maybe. Also, I know that BQ attempts aren't too good at big races, but so what, if I need to, and if it's not last year's weather, I may have to go for it again here. We'll see.

Or it could go the other way with people afraid to sign up for that train wreck again. Either way, the eyes of the whole running community will be on this race and it's organizers to see if they can effectively run a race with no issues. Things like can you get enough cups to the first water stop.

I'm doing it. Going to register now. I'm already angry about having to train again for a race I only wanted to do once and didn't get to finish. Now I'm gonna have to spank that bitch.
