I love cheese. I do. Except, when I eat cheese, I get digestive problems.

I don't have this problem with other milk products (ice cream, milk, yogurt... and feta cheese) except before I work out. Cottage cheese sometimes in this category, sometimes not.

But whenever I eat what people think of when they think of cheese, whether it's swiss, american, chedder, brie... that stuff they serve in Mexican restaurants especially...

It gets worse and more cheeses get moved into the latter (always giving me digestive problems) as I get older... and the ones that have always given me digestive problems like brie and whatever that white cheese is in the restaurants... they actually make me sick.

Why?????

I don't have any info for you, but I hope someone else does. I think intolerance to lactose increases as one ages, but I don't know that. I just think I read it somewhere.

There are varying amounts of lactose in different types of cheeses. However, if you had a problem with lactose, milk would bother you the most, because it is much, much higher in lactose than cheese. Therefore, I tend to believe your problem isnt with lactose...but I don't know what it could be since cheeses dont tend to have tons of "extra" ingredients.

Unless it's the fat content in the cheese. Do you eat any other fatty type foods that give you the same reaction???

Too much beer, chocolate, ice cream or salsa puts me on the TM to stay close to a bathroom - Cheese I am OK with being from WI and all that.

Is this a serious statement...doesn't WI residency qualifications call for cheese eating AND milk drinking?
