Oof. I stayed up to watch the end of the game last night, which means I didn't get nearly enough sleep. This'll be a fun day at work...

Yeah, it was a really good game. Oregon tied it with a couple minutes left, then Auburn drove down the field and kicked a field goal as time expired to win. It wasn't the offensive shootout that most people were expecting, but it was still a compelling game.
 
Hey, I was trying to change my avatar, but I get this error when I try to load in a new jpeg: Unknown object to create image association with. Huh? I tried multiple files, just to see if there was something wrong with the jpeg I was using. But I get it with anything. Can anyone else change their avatar, or is something wrong with the system now?

morning all. Didn't sleep for crap last night as someone *cough* Craig *cough* was upstairs sawing logs loud enough for loggers in Washington state to hear. For a guy that never raises his voice he can get to volumes snoring that I didn't think possible. 
 
I got confirmation this morning from my neighbor that Calvin the horse had to be put down yesterday. I don't know the cause of his demise but I'm guessing it had something to do with his ulcers. 
 
I'd say down with chocolate and up with broccoli but it will have to wait till after I finish my chocolate poptart.

I really hope I have a meeting or something to go to today. Around noon yesterday I ran out of stuff to do and sat around looking bored. Oh to be new.

Fun: Survived DH's first day back to work and got some good quality sleep last night.
Not fun: RIL I just read an article about his parents, so so sad. But yeah, his pic is bone chilling!
 
Need to do a toy purge in this house, you would think we had a giant giraffe and a neon sign on our roof! Hoping to start work in that today and get some over to Goodwill.

so that crazy ass Westboro church from Kansas is planning on picketting the little 9 year old girls funeral. Their reason? Because her family is Roman Catholic and according to Westboro God hates Catholics. There is a lot of fvcked up stuff that goes on in this country but that douche bag Fred Phelps, his family and followers need to pull their heads out of their asses. This guy needs to go... and in a big way.

This kind of stuff just blows my mind. My heart breaks over the loss of that sweet little girl. I can't imagine how her family feels. The last thing they need is someone else's crazy agenda.

UGH!!!!! I have a level of hate for Phelps and his followers that I can't even begin to explain!!! I know at a lot of the military funeals they showed up at, so did local motorcycle groups. Their goal was to set up a sort of human/cycle wall so the families were shielded from the scumbags protesting. I hope the streets are lined with people, offering sympathy and showing support for this family and those tools get no where near that family!

according to the article I read there is a group making angle wings to hide the protesters behind. Honestly if they ever came to my area I'd have a hard time staying away and not giving them a piece of my mind.

 boB, I had the same thing when trying to change my avatar from work, but I was able to change it from home just fine. Weird.

re: Jared Loughner- I had a student here once who looked a lot like him. When he first started as a student, he had normal hair, etc, but the last few times I saw him, he had shaved his head and eyebrows like this guy and it was a bit freaky. He started working with other advisors because I kept calling him on his BS (I could have reported him to Judicial Affairs for knowingly providing false info to a university official -- aka me -- in an effort to prevent being academically dismissed). I was glad to hear that he had graduated last year, but apparently he is now back working on a 2nd degree that he hopes will be more useful in the job market than his 1st one was.
 
not much else going on here, other than I believe the snow has started. Might mean some students being late or canceling appointments this afternoon when it really starts getting messy.

I found a fun! Tonight I'm going to finish my 4th book of the year. Last year I finished with 167 books which I don't think is to bad because I took a month off over the summer.
