Well after last week's overdoing it I scaled back the "long" run by about a mile and a few hills. Managed my longest week yet on this return and feel fine. Next week will be shorter, aiming for 15 or so if I can get a run in next weekend.

Had some finger tingling on Friday, I may have pushed the hills a bit hard while running them. Meh. I will stick with the walking breaks for the foreseeable future. I will also keep at the 7 ish mile long run until such time as I can ramp it up due to having more mileage in the week. Looking to have the long run be 1/3 of my total mileage for the week and right now it is more than that.

Immediate goal is to feel comfortable, have no adverse symptoms and move it up to a 20 mpw base for the winter - perhaps 25 if it isn't too icy.

I, um, count things. So when I was told to get out and do at least 10,000 steps of walking a day - did I buy a pedometer - no. That's about 10k for me of walking. I get a bit going to work and a bit coming home and a lot at lunch if I can swing it. It really has been a help.

I have been doing a lot lately, but nothing like you guys. Running is not happening now, due to the fact that it's so difficult and unpleasant for me. Due to my weight.

I have been walking like a fiend, though. 4 miles a day on the treadmill.

I've taken off about 10 pounds over the last month, so, it's a start. Another 50 and I'll be able to run marathons again.

I'm to the point though, now, that I get "antsy" if I don't get some type of exercise in daily. Which is a good thing.

Yes, that IS a good thing. I keep telling myself that I will never race again due to the health issues... but it's hard not to think about a nice half in the spring. Let's keep at it together.

I'm having a real blister issue right now.

It all started LAST Sunday when I bought a pair of shoes that were too small. They're boat shoes, and I thought they would stretch some. Well, they didn't. I managed to get a pair 1/2 size larger, but I'm not sure about them either, but I can't return TWO pair. The may indeed be OK, but with the blisters there, I can't really tell.

Anyway, wearing these shoes (the ones I returned) for only one hour gave me killer blisters. To the point of one of them bleeding every time I walk on the treadmill. And, now I have to quit for a few days, because we're going to Disney on Friday, and the last thing I need is a blister on both Achilles walking around friggin' Disney World...which will be miles and miles. I'm kicking myself for not trying on another pair.

Does anyone know how long it takes to stretch shoes, by the way? And how much I can stretch them? I've bought some shoe stretchers.
