Carnival Cruise

I am looking at a Carnival 8 day cruise from NY to San Juan, St. Thomas, the Turks, and 4 days at sea in September (19th probably). I'm contemplating paying the price for a balcony room by myself (~$1700.00) because I don't feel like having to advertise for a cabin mate whom I know nothing about. So, I figure fine, I'll just have the room and balcony to myself.

I've travelled many times on Carnival, Princess, Dolphin, Royal Caribbean and a couple of others. I've always had a good time. And my two favorite ships have been Carnival ships - the Ecstasy and the Triumph. Some people bad mouth Carnival because they are a little less expensive generally than the others but from a practical point I have found no differences on the ship. The food, whether on Princess or Carnival is pretty much the same, with the possible exception of escargot. I don't like the way Carnival prepares their escargot, but there is plenty of other food to choose from and I've yet to see anyone leave any ship hungry.

As for the Carnival Splendor that had the fire last week and had to be towed back to San Diego, stuff happens. I'm much more comfortable with a fire and engine room failure on a ship than a jet at 30,000 feet.

I've bookmarked Carnival on my facebook page.

I have been on most of the cruise lines and I find that they are about 90% similar.

I generally sail on Carnival because I can seem to get a better price.
