What to eat?

I'm thinking of trying for 24 hours. Yet reviewing my diet reveals that I eat carbs all the time.

I don't see how its possible. At the very least, I'd be very cranky.

Yes. Pfitz' monthly column is where I got the idea for the 24 hour "mini-depletion."

I've never tried. In the past I've just really focused on the carb-loading, especially topping off the tanks in the night prior and also with a pre-race breakfast. The more important nutritional factor in marathoning, for sure.

Carb-loading makes a difference, for sure. Yet the depletion phase is supposed to increase the ability of the muscles and liver to store glycogen.

Tim, two weekends ago, I tried Pfitz' recommend to do a long run on low fuel tanks. To train the body to convery fat to energy. I didn't like that either. Evil Pfitz.

That's what I was thinking: Fat and protein. Unless an emergency, I don't think I could make it a day on a no-carb diet.

I had thought nuts, eggs, meats, dairy and cheese could get me through 24 hrs...BUT, my roommate made a huge pasta, bread and salad dinner last night. Out went that idea.

Maybe next time.
