Ok, so I'm starting the daily w/o a run. Make somethin' of it! SS accused me of being cantankerous, so there. To add insult to injury now she is running and I am not! Maybe I'll ride my trainer tonight.

Wake up everyone!

5 miles with Bruce, Roger, and Ralph. Although, I told the men to take off. (I can't run as fast as they can). Bruce and Roger quietly did as they were told.
Ralph stayed with me. He had run 20 on Saturday and wanted to take it easy. (Or so he said)

KSrunr,
How is CCrunr doing?
Hi Rosie,

The lovely and gracious mrsccrunner is a tough ol broad. She was in tears at mile 5 from the shin pain but ran, jogged, shuffled, and walked to the finish in 6:38. Almost 2 hours longer than her goal if healthy. She will heal up now as she has her surgery early Feb.

more later,

I didn't want to brave the great, freezing outdoors this morning. So I did 3 easy running miles plus 1 walking mile on the TM. It's not going to get any warmer soon, so I guess I'd better get my head into this...

I missed KS's race report as well. I've been looking, but it's not to be found.

4 predawn miles for me this morning. 15F, the sky was full of bright stars. I decided to run around town today and hit some hilly roads instead of taking off towards the country road. I would post the graphics here from my garmina, but I don't know how? Help, please. When I got back home I did 30 sets the plunks a-la OM style. Are you adding up my points Sal pal?

Ksrunr...did I miss your RR? So...Mrscrunner must be a tough as she is beautiful.

Caddisfli- I am glad to see that you were able to run your wonderfuland miles without a yak track. Aren't they the most amazing invention?

Off to work...the Administrator send me a memo yesterday asking for a 5 year report about the cultural competency program I have done for our staff...arrrhhhhhh don't this people know that I am getting ready to go overseas and I have my desk full of work already? This report is for American Hospital Association so...I not only have to take care of the details of the content, but it must be cheesy also. OK, enough complaining and go to work...right?

Good morning, gentle and amiable Pro. Why aren't you running?

Wow, ksrunr, tough indeed! Please give her our best. Looking forward to your race report.

Nice 5s, rcg and cfli.

Courage, Marie! There's character to be built out there!

Mariposai, I think you are a superwoman. I think the administrator suspects it too -- you can do anything!

Good morning everyone. 'Hope Mrs.Ksrunr heals quickly.

8 miles with the pace all over the place! Between the icy roads and the traffic this morning, I was anywhere from 8:40 pace to almost walking. I did manage 10, 25 second strides though.

I also witnessed a road rage scene that thankfully ended ok. A white man was screaming at a black woman. I only describe it that way because he said some pretty awful things to her. I wouldn't repeat them, they were so nasty. I didn't see what prompted the exchange but they did end up going in different directions. People need to relax. It's just not worth getting so worked about those things.

Have a peaceful day all!

Good to hear from you ks. We'll give you an extension on your RR until you get home. Congrats to CCrunr on her courageous effort.. just hope she didn't do more damage.

JJJ, thanks for the poem yesterday.

2000 yards in the pool, following a workout that swimplan.com generated for me:
2x100 steady w/u with 20s rest (1:34, 1:38 )
8x(25 single-arm stroke drill, 25 streamlined free kick), 15s rest
1x800 steady, 14:20, 1 min rest
4x100 steady-hard with pull buoy and hand paddles, 1:32 avg, 20s rest
2x100 EZ c/d

The 25 yd free kicks nearly killed me. I go practically nowhere with great effort. I had to put on fins for the last 4 to salvage the set. Gotta work on that. Also, on the single-arm drill I think I resembled a wounded flounder.

Then 30 min on the elliptical at GA effort.

I will do a gazillion pushups later today.

<sigh> I miss Dark Horse...

Good Morning Kicksters! Thanks for starting cantankerous craig!

I am pretty well sold on the yaxtraks. So hard headed about them at first, but then I am that way on about everything. Sure glad I tried them.

Road rage! I had a brief period of that myself, back when my running was an escape from myself. Years of denial that I had chronic depression, (men don't get depression) conspired to make me into a very angry person(men can be angry). One of my rages ended up with some folks trying to chase me down in thier car who was appearantly more angry than me, fortunately there was a police station near by and I zipped into the parking lot there and waited until they were gone. Soon after that, and as a result of friends suggestions I went to the doc to get some help for my chronic depression. Now I go to alot of meetings, address childhood issues (at 59?) and take my medication. No more depression. When I see someone having road rage nowadays, I just want to give them a hug and tell them that it will be ok.

This is my non run day, but I would really like to go for a run, I might break the rules again and do a few on the treadmill.

Good morning sweet and gentle masterboomers! Running and tapering and looking forward to the Carlsbad race this weekend. It will be my final push before shoulder surgery, then I can join the ranks of the cranky cantankerous crosstrainers, growling and spitting from the sidelines at you bouncy gazelle like runners.

Good morning.

I vote we give CCrunr this month's Guts and Glory Award. Crying by mile 5 yet finishes the marathon? Amazing. Maybe she'd write a RR...

Has anyone heard how Wa5yom's marathon went or did I miss something?

Doesn't Mariposai have the best attitude? I want to hang with her!

A body clad only in shorts was found washed up on a rocky bank of the Yellowstone River near where our missing club member parked his pickup. Authorities are still trying to identify the body but it is a male. I hope this will finally give the family some much-needed resolution.

Yoga on tap for tonight. Thinking about enrolling in a xc ski class the first week of Feb. Just wish we'd get some darn snow.

{ETA: Dave, I miss Dark Horse too}
