hubbies mom found out she had/has breast cancer a little over 2 weeks ago and had her masectomy last Tuesday ... she's doing well ... we're waiting on lab results and should know Wednesday whether it's in her nodes or if it was contained in her breast they removed ...

I just found out my mom if full of cancer ... I suspected she might be but she's been without insurance since my dad died 2 years ago from CANCER .... she's been really sick all summer and losing weight .... I saw the writing on the wall but it still stinks to have it confirmed ... I seriously doubt she does anything to fight this and will likely just go straight into the Hospice system ...

Sporti, it does suck. Thoughts are with you and your hubby.

A dear friend of ours is fighting her third recurrence. This is not good, and she's fading. Her musical friends are gathering this weekend for a benefit concert for her and her hubby. Her medical needs are taken care of, and she's getting the best treatment, but it's the extra things that are costing, wheelchair, assistance, etc.

With her I have felt a sense of sadness that I never followed up on the "We should,...'s" while she was well. You are so right that we have to relish each moment while we are living.

Hang in there.

Kim, you are one of the most positive thinking people I see on this or any other board. Your resiliency to bounce back from adversity will carry you through this.

My best to all of you.

hopefully sometime in the next week we'll have prognosis' on both mom and MIL and know what course of treatments and probable timeline/outcomes we are likely facing ... caregiving alternatives are already being looked into and plans are falling in place for scenarios on both fronts ...
