Just with switching my training plan not with the rest of my life (although if there are any volunteers...)
Here is my long run schedule (HH Int II)
June 30 17 miles
July 7 12
14 19
21 20
28 12
Aug 4 20
Aug 11 12
Aug 18 20
Aug 25 12
Sept 2 8
Sept 9 Race
Problem: I'm going to be on vacation (las vegas) on Aug 4. Do I suck it up and try and do 20 out there (can be done but not easily) or is there some way to switch to get my long run that week to 12? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm doing HH Int 2 as well. Allegedly. My life has caused me to do some substantial re-engineering to the plan.

Meri's answer is superb in its simplicity. This is a variation on that theme.

Sept 9 Race

My race is Air Force on 15 Sep. My goal race is Tucson on 2 Dec. I'm thinking about doing a 22 miler (as Meri included for you). I may forego this and wait until between Sep and Dec to get some 21+ milers done (or than Air Force itself, of course).

I'm by no means an expert. But there you go. Hope it helps.

thank you so much-both variations look great. I think I'll try Meri's because I'm too old to do back to back 20 milers! Here's hoping I can pull this off BTW Meri, you are a PA person right? Have you heard of anyone else planning on doing the Leigh Valley River Marathon? That's the one I'm doing on Sept 9. Details are still sketchy but it is supposed to be certified.

No i do not know anyone running the race. I was going to do it, but i think it is too close to my 50M race in Vermont (9/29?). If someone in my running group needs a relayer i would do that though Is it Bart Yasso's race? is the course going to be similar to the Lehigh Valley Half (formerly RW half)?

It is Bart Yasso's. I don't think the course has been posted anywhere yet. I'm assuming, since he's running it, the course will be laid out well and the race well run. I did talk to someone at Via and she said the couse ran along the canal and is pretty well shaded. Maximum 200 ind. runners and 250 relay teams. I'm getting nervous just typing this-what was I thinking

I did the 1/2 there for the first time this year. That is where I found out about this one. I had a great time doing the 1/2 and will definately do it next year.

You will be fine. Just stick to your training and put the miles in. I have run the half up there every year but this past because it sold out crazy early
