I am sick of moving. I have packed up my house, but I can't move it to my new apartment yet. I have packed up my classroom, because my temporary contract is up, but I have nowhere to put the boxes, so many of them are in my car and there are lots in the room of the cousins that I am staying at, the room is a mess, because of me, not them, my car is a mess, my arms like they feel like they are going to drop off if I pick up one more box.

Then yesterday I find out that because there are 40 people moving into my apartment at the same time I get 90 minutes to move in, fine, but if I want to get a head start with some boxes before I pay the moving company, I have to take the stairs because every single day from the 29th to the 2nd the elevator is booked from 8 am to 8 pm. I thought it was just the 31, 1 and 2nd, so I really thought that moving boxes would be easy peasy on the 29th and 30th.

I just can't lift any more boxes, never mind carry them up 2 flights of stairs, and it is unlikely that all my teaching supplies and furniture can make it into my apartment in 90 minutes, so I am forced to carry as many boxes/tires/small items as I can up stairs from the evening of the 29th until the morning of the 2nd.

My elbows/arms ache just thinking about it. I don't even want to think about whether my legs can take it.

Moving - the ultimate workout.

Now my whine is over, but it will probably begin again tomorrow after I talk to a few more moving companies, and the power company and the insurance company and the phone company.

Wow.. I think you deserve to whine! You have a lot going on.. and nothing is making it easier, Would it be worth renting one of those storage units for a month so that you could stash stuff and then move when you can get the elevator ( 2 am might be open?) Why are so many peoeple moving in on the same day ? That souds pretty unusual- is it a new building or something ? Good Luck !

Thanks guys. After some thought, I'm going to see if I can enlist a couple of friends to help, each with a different carload/day, then I'm not asking TOO much of any one person to go up those stairs. I also thought if one person takes them from floor 1 to 2 and the other takes them from floor 2 to 3, it's half as much work for both of us.

It will be ok. I didn't pack the storage place they are in very well. Boxes in first then heavy stuff, so I need to get around the furniture to get to some of the boxes, if I want to have a really productive day of it, but it can be done.

I need to call a couple of other moving companies because I don't think the one I have spoken with is picturing the same thing I am. It shouldn't take them (4 guys) more than 1.5 hours to move it into the truck, but he wants to be there 2.5 hours before my elevator time. I think he is picturing a jam packed single car garage, when in actual fact it is only the floor space that is covered and it doesn't stand more than 4 feet high.

I might just say "pack the furniture and all the boxes you can take in 45 minutes," figuring it will take twice that long to get them in the elevator to the apartment, and I'll do the rest later.

Well, it's going pretty well, I have been unpacking a bit before the next trip down the stairs. I believe that I will have a smaller waist after this is all over.

RAinNH, yes it is a brand new apartment, I absolutely love it. I have my own laundry in my apartment and a storage room that will accomodate most of my teaching supplies.

I am so happy that I don't have to share a washer and dryer with other people.

I managed to move in my TV up the stairs, and the vacuum, and many many many boxes. One more day tomorrow and then I'll leave the rest up to the movers.

I seriously wish that I had taken a waist measurement before this weekend.
