Good lineup for Hally. I'm anxiously awaiting our lineup of free summer shows here in Knoxville. The spring/summer series is called "sundown in the city" and takes place on Thursday evenings on Market Square downtown. The lineup should come out next week, but I do know that Susan Tedeschi is coming back since it's on her website. Last time she was here her husband Derek Trucks was with her. I've seen her about 4 times total and she is terrific.<br><br>
If anybody likes the larger festival type shows, there is the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, TN each year. It draws quite a crowd and quite a lineup.

You know me too well <img alt="biggrin.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/biggrin.gif">, but actually I've been xtraining Tamster, NCAA tournament on TV, and finally, for a change, I'm not very busy work wise.<br><br>
So, to answer your ?? Yes. Things are a little tight this year but I think we're going to:<br><br>
Michelle Shocked / Devil Makes 3<br>
Bonnie Raitt<br>
The Black Crowes<br>
Keb Mo' / Taj Mahal<br>
Lucinda Williams<br>
Bob Weir<br><br>
Lemme know if you want tickets to any of the shows, I'm taking our order in next Friday when I'm in Medford.

That's a great lineup Hally!<br><br>
I've also seen Susan Tedeschi - back when she was still a relatively unknown. I saw her as a 'special guest' of Buddy Guy's at one of the Concerts at the Pier in Seattle - probably about summer 1998. I like her alot.<br><br>
John - I'll get with Dh and see which ones we want to see and want reserved seating for. We won't be able to go to that many, but we'll probably select a couple and we always bring DS to at least one as well. However, with about 7-8 that we'd like to see, we have to really figure out which ones we are willing to pay the ticket prices to see. I think Bonnie Raitt will be one for sure. DH wants to see Black Crowes also. And I wouldn't mind seeing Keb Mo again. so many good names this year, so few we can realistically go to. I'll let you know though.

Since I'm still waiting for Dirt to throw that big rock down...<br>
music talk always cheers me up. I love live music and spend way too much money on it. (Thanks, Tammy! Howdyaknow? <img alt="wink.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/wink.gif">)<br><br>
I'm seeing Nada Surf next weekend at a local club.<br><a href="http://www.nadasurf.com/bio.shtml" target="_blank">http://www.nadasurf.com/bio.shtml</a><br><br>
Thinking about getting tickets to KMTT's Earth Day concert for the BoDeans. It's an old favorite I've never seen live, and a Milwaukee band. <img alt="cool.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/cool.gif"><br><br>
Won't make Sasquatch this year -- again! I've never been to a concert at the Gorge. Pathetic! Incredible lineup - again. Maybe I should skip the 50k that weekend. <a href="http://www.livenation.com/venue/getVenue/venueId/460" target="_blank">http://www.livenation.com/venue/getVenue/venueId/460</a><br><br><br>
Every day I religiously check Radiohead's website to see when Seattle tickets go on sale.<br><a href="http://www.radiohead.com/deadairspace" target="_blank">http://www.radiohead.com/deadairspace</a><br><br><br>
Seattle's major summer concert series -- we are lucky we have so many -- haven't been announced yet.<br><br>
Pie -- a co-worker went to Bonnaroo last year and has been tryng to get me to go this year. We'd even have a free place to stay. Just can't afford a little trip to TN right now, though. The line up looks fantastic. Pearl Jam, Alison Kraus/Robert Plant, too many others to name ... gahhhhhh.

Seattle always has great venues and great line-ups. I've never been to a concert at the Gorge either Soundie. There were always some shows that appealed to me (especially Dave Matthews), but never quite had the desire to be in that open hot area in the middle of summer with thousands of others. I was always more of a "Chateau Ste. Michele" venue type person, or Pier 70 venue.

Chastain Park in Atlanta usually has a great summer lineup of shows, but it's a pain to get tickets. They sell so many season tickets that the number of tickets available for individual shows is small. I am thinking of getting tickets to a blues festival in Wheelng WV for August. Never been to Wheeling, but the lineup looks really good.

Tamster - you have great taste in music. - Susan Tedeschi is one of my favorites- and Bonnie Raitt is up there too (and a great guitarist). - Keb Mo also a fave.... I<br><br>
Good to hear people still support live music. - I'm still playing semi-regularly with the fabulous Voodoo Deville blues band (<a href="http://www.voodoodeville.com" target="_blank">www.voodoodeville.com</a>) although we've slowed down a bit.<br><br>

REM!!!<br><br>
I actually met Michael Stipe at a local Houston club after an REM concert in town. I was there to see a <i>different</i> band from Georgia that the guys in REM had also come to see after their show.<br><br>
This was back when I used to run around Memorial Park, a 3-mile loop, carrying a Sony Walkman tape deck in my hand the whole time, often playing REM.<br><br>
I got to talk to Michael Stipe and tell him that listening to his music helped me run faster! He said that was cool, and he'd never heard that before!<br><br>
This was before I met my husband (in the same live music club), but he was there that night and talked to Peter Buck. In fact, DH and I had been in the same place at the same time many times, and, having gone to the 2 opposing high schools in Baytown (near Houston), knew a lot of the same people. He knew my old boyfriends, and I knew his old girlfriends. We didn't meet until we were 29, and somehow had a lot of shared history anyway. And our moms are both named Polly. Obviously, it was fate. Will be celebrating 17 years of wedded love on Easter!<br><br>
So, a love story and a brush with greatness. Thanks for starting this thread - would love to just travel around to some of those great shows (especially the Robert Plant/Allison Krauss show), but dang, the kids and the job just cramp my style sometimes. Good thing I love 'em both!

We enjoy the small clubs in So Cal ..... nothing scheduled so far for this spring/summer but our family including our boys and their girlfriends are going to the Live Oak Music Festival in Santa Barbara over Father's Day weekend ..... it will be 3 days of camping, music, drinking, eating, and whatever else there may be. The line up is a variety of folk music from all over the world.

Okay I'm gonna bite on this one. While I love too see live music, the $$$ they ask for to see it is out of control. Thats why I pretty much have just cut it down to seeing music at small clubs..like tonight, headed out to see Little Sue and Lynn Conover for free from 6-8....then at 9:30 I'm seeing a band called Ducky Pig... So Bob Weir the great rhythm guitar player is playing down south...While I love the Grateful Dead Johnny Boy...I've quit seeing Weir, I hate how he has tortured the beautiful sound and soul of Jerry tunes...last time I saw him, he played Artificial Flowers...walked out of the Roseland when he did that.. I pay big money only to see Neil, Dylan, Willie Nelson and Phil Lesh...Maye I should hit Bonarro, I think I'd like to meet Pie!

That Bonarro sounds like a great weekend, and for the price of the tickets well worth it. WJ is right, some of the tickets are ridiculously priced.<br><br>
We have free concerts here in Long Beach all summer, most that I can walk to in 10 minutes the others are a bike ride away. They aren't the greatest bands in the world but it's fun. Tues, Thurs and Saturdays.

Pie.... you're a big tease.<br>
Tim... that is a blast from the past!<br><br>
I also usually stick with cheap shows at clubs vs. arenas. Who cares if I sometimes have to rub elbows with drunk 21-year-olds for the price? Keeps me forever young. Our zoo concert series is the best summer bargain -- bring in your own picnic dinner, spread out on the grass, free to kids under 12 and there's a place off to the side where the kids like to run around and roll down this hill. I go to at least two every summer. Last year -- think it was Patty Griffin show -- kids and I saw Dave Matthews playing with his daughter. It was raining, too. <img alt="smile.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/smile.gif">
