Hmm. We're moving up. I would have thought that the number of huge urban parks, the trails, the economy, the proximity to the mountains, the health care, the education system, the lack of crime... we'd be higher. Maybe next year.

Apparently Vancouver went from first to third because a mountainous highway called the Malahat on Vancouver ISLAND has traffic issues when it snows. No one can figure out how a road on an island hours away from Vancouver has an impact on their rating.

Congrats to Calgary though!

Ha, I read the Gardening threads and laugh as I am in zone 2b or zone 3, so no winter gardening here at all. I'm not really big on summer gardening though, unless it is potato, peas, cucumbers and tomato.

Like I mentioned, I was in Vermont last week. It was nice to see fresh corn at farm stands, which we had several times over the week, knowing that they couldn't get their stuff in the ground as early as down here, so it was still "in season".

Down here, there's not as much good corn left now.

Potatoes....I want to do them next year. I've heard that they're awesome when just dug up.

Next year, I need to learn how to can tomatoes. Right now, I'm giving out 5 or 10 at work every day. Making sauce and freezing it. Salsa, bruschetta once or twice a week.

What does this have to do with Calgary?
