A fleet-footed Buzzie was spotted charging through pastures, hurtling cowpies and kicking some serious cowbell butt at the Finger Lakes 50's this weekend !!

Heh... I love your definition of "fleet-footed"!

How'd you know it was me? There wasn't a turkey sammich in sight!

Great training run for me. I've been seriously short on extended time-on-feet...the FL50 provided it in spades.

Didn't see any cowpies on the first loop. Second loop I wondered why there were so many turtles in the pasture.

I learned that I'm not a mudder. Sure, I dally in the occasional patch, but dang! Shoe-sucking became soul-sucking on the 2nd and 3rd loops.

Still, I'm glad I resisted the urge to fully enjoy the day by stopping after 50K and cracking open one of the cold beers tempting me in my cooler.

A shoe change for the 3rd loop breathed new life into blisters I hadn't known I'd had. But, I was pleased that I was still running, feeling nimble, and avoiding the ultra shuffle.

That is, until the last 10 miles, when my left quad developed a knot just above the knee. Running - not an option. Walking - OK. And, after several miles of slogging, I finally found my ultra walking mojo returning (clearly, I'm in need of even more practice!) and was actually clipping along for the last four miles.

At the finish line the RD asked me my name and age. It took me a while to answer - why is she asking me this, I'm wearing a number, how old am I anyway? Then, I embarrassedly accepted the handmade bear and beer for being the masters winner. WTF?

So... runNY, how was YOUR day? I know I wasn't the only KR sighting... had the pleasure of finally meeting Shellerz & her meatball, Jim.
Was hoping to actually talk to you after the race, but I was fading fast and needed to find a place to stay.

i spent a few very injoyable hours out there as a companion runner for shellerz and we had a dang goot time of it

i like the new course much more than the previous one . . . we were not stalked by cow nor bull and were treated to a forest full

Hmm... how do my legs fly when there's a platter of turkey burgers waiting??

I still can't believe I was the Masters Winner - WTH? I *walked* 9.5 continuous miles (with a feeble trot for the last 0.5 baby loop).

Sounds like you and shellerz had a great time - much better than I, who somehow managed to forget to enjoy the course.

I've heard the course is much better liked these days - can only imagine it before! What went missing?

Fungi... any snacking? (shellerz did have me on the lookout for a cherry tree... never saw it.)

Hunnert is Cascade Crest, August 28. I think I'm gonna go.

Seems to me you have a little something coming up??? (Been awfully quiet lately!)

Way to go! It is a great race, but i have been there in notoriously muddy years, and it is TERRIBLE to run thru the slop. Congrats on the master's win!!!!!!!!!

ohhhhhh im not convinced shellerz had all that great a time of it, but i was only out there for one turn of the course so i injoyed it.

There was no " fuhnny funghi" sampling for us , tho after 50M's in that heat i was expecting some hallucinations from my runner

Honestly, I'm embarrassed that I wound up with a "win" for my slowest 50-mile time yet... to use a figure skating analogy, it's like winning the short program (all required elements) because you fell the least. Still, it really was a good training run for me - I think I got a lot out of it and can't wait to reap the physiological rewards.

Sporti and RunNy - I hope you all have a blast in Tahoe! And, I know you'll make the most of it...and document it with lots of pitchers!!!

I think I can handle lots of pitchers!!! :p

I'm very excited ..

and a win is a win ... and don't discount your accomplishment ... on that given day you did things better than many others there ... that's the crapshoot that is ultrarunning!
