60 minutes of running on the roads, trail and woodland with the Pro, Water Lili and her husband. For those who have never met the Pro, he is such a fun person to hang out with and he is also and amazing chef!!!!
 
Off to meet La Tortuga and then to explore Boston for the day. Tonight we are having a party at La Tortuga's house. I understand that I will have the awesome opportunity of meeting Henrun,Marj, Robin and others.
 
 
Here is a picture of The Pro and I cooking dinner last night. He welcomed us with a banquet worthy of a king!!

5.5 ez miles this morning. After yesterday's run I didn't know if I could run 5 miles without stopping. We'll see what tomorrow holds.

Hi Mariposai! I thought I felt a ripple in the Force! Welcome to the Commonwealth! I so wish I could meet up with the gang tonight but other commitments make that impossible. Please say "hi" to the ThePro, Robin, LaT and the others for me.
 
My butt is really sore today, so I returned to the elliptical for 30' and then did some core work. grumblegrumble.

9.5mi 8:30-ish pace; some with the meetup.com running group. fun morning run, nice group, fun chats... turns out 3 out of 5 had run in san diego... small world.
 
transition 1 time is getting longer... dip in the pool, quick breakfast, and now about to hop on the bike for my commute to work. without protosun in the house, and with the a/c bumped up to 80f inside, i'm happy to say that transition 1 is naked time...

Happy to report I have clothes on and have eaten a crunchie
 
I will often turbo with just cycling shorts on though
 
The one thing about being in the UK is it limits my chances of meeting too many people, we are hopeful of running LA again next year though as it was such a great holiday.

Wow, all kinds of happenings here today, golf and donuts, naked runners, Ralph the polygamist and the Pro is an amazing chef! Who would believe all this?
 
Glad Mariposai is getting to know the folks on the better half of the country. Wish I could be there.
 
Mike, I always find the elliptical helps "balance me out" since its path is fixed. Hope you get some remedy soon.

7mi cycling, 18mph avg. made a connection between two lights that's been eluding me for the past week... about 25mph slightly uphill for that 1/2mi sprint...

I did it last year and a group of us are going again. 11.6 fun miles, the ocean and good post race chow all for the price of postage for your SASE. I am going to do it as an MP test race. I don't know why everyone is so freaked out about mc doing transition 1 in the nude. I love running around the house in the nude. DH doesn't mind, but I have to go under wraps when the kids are home. One of the reasons I love being home when nobody else is there is because I love doing housework in the nude. Don't knock it till you've tried it! <img alt="" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/icon_cheers.gif" title="">
 
I sure wish I could be there in Boston with the gang. Sounds like a lot of fun. Enjoy the visit, Mariposai! 
 
Hang in there, Mike. Seems like you've been battling one thing or another for quite some time. Would be so nice to have you running on all cylinders.
 
I'm mixing up my runs a bit today. Instead of short or rest today, I'm going to split up tomorrow's 9 miler into a 6 miler today at lunchtime, with some striders or speedy bits, then just do 3 easy miles tomorrow. Trying to be sure legs are all ready for Sunday's race. It'll be a mudbath at the top (first 2/3) but I want to be ready for the screamin' downhill in the last 1/3. I also might try to get DS1 to run me in the last mile. That's the hardest part of this race. After a pounding fast 2 mile steep descent, you have 1.5 miles or so of steady flat running on an old paved road. Feels like the longest 1.5 miles in the world... I've heard it's actually a slight incline for that last bit, but I think it just feels that way.

I put up a stickey (well, as close as we can get to sticky's) in the blue box at the top of the screen for VRAA Round 23 sign-ups. I also put in my request to the brand new Commish for a masters team, so let's sign up for VRAA and make this a fun round with our new Commish and maybe, just maybe, if there are enough masters that sign up, we could get our own team. I'm hoping here!

for a very hot 4 miles last night. Still in the low 90's at 7 p.m.. Never cooled off much last night either. with all the windows open throughout the night, it was still almost 70 in the house at 6:30 a.m.
after my 4 miles last night, I ran up and down the bleachers while waiting for DS to finish up his boot camp.

Mari, have fun. I'm jealous.
I've been running every other day, HM tempo-ish short runs, in a "taper" for my upcoming trail marathon. I hesitate to call it a taper because I've not trained for this as seriously as my last marathon. But, all is goot. Today I ran 5moh in soupy humidity. Was drenched when I finished, yet my pace was the fastest I've run those particular 5moh. That's goot.
Erika, I'm completely with you. I venture outside sans clothes frequently knowing nobody will ever see me in these woods. It's freeing.
It wouldn't be Friday without crunchies and donuts. Happy Friday and have a great weekend!

Gobi, I'm equally envious, as I don't get south of the border too often. Thankfully CNY came to Toronto last summer (Hi Karin!!) !!! Have a great visit, Mari!!
 
No run for me today and will see if I have time to do some badly needed core work in the gym here before I leave for the day. Tomorrow is a slacker day, with 30°C and thunderstorms due to roll thru, but Sunday is looking good for a LR.

Rainy and hot here today so DH and I did an extremely tough spin class. The (substitute) instructor had just returned from a week away and she wanted to burn 800 calories. She had some Garmin-type thing on to measure effort and we actually did 819 calories. Then I took a yoga class which was supposed to be restorative but they just changed the schedule and now it could be labeled "exhaustingly difficult" with a new instructor instead of my wonderful Satveer. So I was absolutely wrung out afterwards. But DH and I had a nice lunch together and rested for 30 minutes before our next round of errands for the day - buying paint and starting to tape edges etc. We'll paint tomorrow.

Freaked out? Not at all Erika----just distracted big time! My mother is European and nudity is embraced in quite the healthy way. I just need to get work done today is all!

Okay, I have to admit that I sometimes, well, you know. If nobody's around, I hang my running clothes to dry in the garage and then get through the house quickly to the shower, nervously eyeing the back windows. We have a wooden stockade fence, but just saying...
 
Today I have on my new "hook up with Brooke" jeans. Went to the running store she works at, but it's her day off. Sigh. Returned the Defyance for a refund and got my foot taped for the PF. It was a little tender this morning.

Well, fantabulous chef that I am, I sit here hungry and waiting to go to LaT's for some BBQ. 
It was a good dinner though. With everyone chipping in and making something on the fly. 
 
Got roped into an hour long run this morning w/ Mariposai, and Waterlily, and Ben. The run was fine (except for the bushwhacking part

I guess I am a better cook than tour guide. Who'd a thunk the trails would be overgrown in the middle of summer). Then some homemade Egg McMuffins and waved by by to Mari and DH. 
 
I know I hosted, but Mari, thanks for visiting, it was fun. Now when will you be running those hill repeats so you go under 4 before you-know-who
