Time to wake up and start burning them extra calories we consumed this past weekend.

Crispy 21F, icy roads allowed me to make this easy run over easy. 3 miles total.

Erika, great run on the TM last nite.

Opie, what is on your plate for this week. It seems like Brooks is doing wanders with your speed.

Dove, how was your weekend? I was thinking of you last night, miss ya.

This is a picture of the gift my son David gave to me for Xtmas: his picture with his first marathon medal + my picture with my Marathon medal = Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon. He wants me to write a training plan for him so we can both run it together. He placed this inside a shoe box with his running shoes in it, so I can be a keeper of his shoes until the marathon.

Happy mama posie!

What a greta gift, posie! Nothing like the promise of a future marathon with your DS.

The only calories I've burned have been on the end of a snow shovel. I've shoveled out twice last night and twice this morning. It looks to be tapering off but the wind is up and blowing snow around. I'm working from home today. I may get to the gym later for some intervals.

Sorry to hear about your lost FF. A friend of mine in town here lost his mother on the 23rd. The wake's tonight.

Be safe everybody.

Hi KR masters!

Still no running for me (15 weeks now I think), but I am doing some cycling when the weather allows. Rollers on order.

Wishing you all good running & a happy new year!

What a special gift Mariposai! I love it!

irunmike, looks like maybe your name should be ishovelmike! Ironically, I do miss shoveling, but I guess I can only say that because it might only be once every 3-4 yrs that we actually get enough to shovel. But when I lived in MN, I liked the exercise of shoveling. But then I only shoveled until I was tired of it, then my dad would get out the snowblower and do the rest.

Back at work today after 4 days off. This week I'm just working today and tomorrow and then off the rest of the week. My son is staying at my parents until Tuesday and then we'll plan some fun stuff the rest of the week. He's bored with Christmas vacation already and wants to be back at school. But we'll go bowling one day, see Narnia another, maybe head over to the gym for some swimming another day.

I hope you all had a nice Christmas celebration. Would be nice if one of these years though I could have a tension-free holiday. But I did enjoy seeing my son excited with his new gifts and playing some new games with him.

40 minutes of yoga, finding peace and gratitude after too much time around my MIL! I'll do my 2-mile, circuits and 2-mile workout after work.

Millbot, it's great to hear from you. When you return to running you'll be a beast as usual. Mariposai, Brooks & Brooke have been good for my running. She has an easier week planned for me than last week, although it wasn't as hard on me as she thought it would be. The jury is still out on a New Year's 5k race.

You have a very thoughtful son, Posie!

{{{{ Millbot}}} You've been missed, my fren! What's the prognosis?

{{ hugs to all the snow-bound east coasters}} Be careful out there, kids!

We still have ~one inch on the ground, and nothing in the forecast.

The big annual sale started today at my favourite LRS. Treated myself to a pair of Mizuno Wave Cabrakans and CW-X tights... and stocked up on gels and eLoad.

Ran 5 miles SEP to the park and back.

That's a wonderful gift, Posie!

I had a lite total last week,

My older son and I ran a mile on Christmas Next day, I toughed out 8+ in our new powder over old crusty churned up snow that's been here for weeks.

Today, we drove to Damascus to catch a supply of drinking water from the spring. I ran back to Abingdon, about 17 miles to the spa where I showered and the Bonn was waiting for me. I forgot to take a jail-break until mile 14, duh. it was 25-30°, there was some wind in places, and the snow by itself will take it out of you even at 12+ min miles

I ran into Beth, first time since her Hellgate 100k experience, 2 weekends ago.

She was starting to have some downhill problems after 50 miles.

Then about 4 miles to the last aid station at mile ~60, she ran up on a guy lying on the ground delirious and hypo-thermic. She lay on top of him to warm him up. She was frantic. Finally some more runners came and and they were able to get him on his feet and to the aid station. The guy got it together and surprisingly finished the race, Beth was mentally and physically toasted and dropped. Its actually closer to 66.6 miles than 62.2 -she only had a bit over an hour to 6 pm cutoff, no head light, and in pain. It was a tough day to say the least.

Not much to post, but I'll do my best....

I'm doing my best to take it easy last week and this week. I'm starting to feel my energy building ,so it's hard to keep it in check. I have a 3 marathons in 3 days effort at the end of the week and I want to be well rested.

Nice gift Mari. We need to get together and chat, there's so much I want to talk to you about.

All those long runs amaze me. I always get injured when I try them.

I felt fantastic today. Did a progression run going a little faster every 10 minutes. Ended up with 5.36 miles for 60 minutes (11:11 pace) at 12% incline and then did another .64 at 13% incline for an even 6 miles and 3,820 ft elevation gain.

Yay on feeling good with those incredibly difficult runs, Rip!

Yay on seeing Millbot, but "waaah" on his absence and lack of running. Is it still your damn foot?

Wonderful gift, Mariposai! Hey, I'm thinking of entering Newport and letting the travel chips fall where they may... I can't wait for everything to work out 100% before I do anything, or it'll fill up already, right?? Just need to wait till the billing cycle on my credit card closes on the 2nd.

5.15 miles on the treadmill tonight, while the turkey was in the oven. I'm tired of no leftovers. And I've had a 20 lb turkey in the freezer for a couple years (yep.. a couple years). So, I decicded it was more than time to roast that sucker. The plan was to butterfly it, but I still didn't have a pan big enough, so cut it in half and split it between two pans. The one up high was done when I was done with my run (after 1.5 hours total), the other half (lower rack, dark and deep roaster pan) was done at 2.5 hours. Wow... who'd think you could roast a chicken in that amount of time? Now we're all done with pulling the leftovers for sandwiches (sliced breast pieces), dishes( leftover pieces and chunks, dark and light), and stock/soup (bones and everything else). Should be good eating for the next few weeks!
