<p>So last night the missus spotted a bunny in our front garden.  Today while mowing I caught sight of it too.  Tiny little thing.  We know it has been eating plants and we don't want it growing up and bringing all of its rabbit relations with it.  So we set out to trap it.  Wasn't much of a fight - poor thing.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Two years ago the missus caught one and then released it into the ravine behind us just in time to see the shadow of a hawk pass overhead.  Oh well.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Today we placed it in a wooded section of the valley and there were no hawks in sight.  Cute little thing but darn varmints when they grow up.</p>

<p>at school this spring, a momma bunny had a nest of eight babies located under one of the slides</p>
<p> </p>
<p>the custodian put up baracades and construction tape to keep kids from squooshing them</p>
<p> </p>
<p>we had many wonderful impromptu lessons about mammals/habitats/growth cycles/etc while the kids and I hovered over the nest for a couple weeks and watched the babies grow</p>
<p> </p>
<p>eventually they were gone and play on the slide resumed, baby bunnies long forgotten</p>
<p> </p>
<p> </p>
<p> </p>
<p> </p>
<p>I didn't have the heart to tell the kidlettes that if the nest had my gardens, the eight smoochingly-adorable babies would have been....well, let us say, wouldn't have made it to week two birthdays....</p>

<p>Bummer time.  Our house guests are of the opinion that one of the myriad of hares that inhabit our neighbourhood and hill is the bunny's mama and that we killed the bunny by moving it.</p>
