Okay, so I never did a proper race report. Short version--I went into this undertrained. My only real goal was to have fun. Oh, and to beat my rival. Mission accomplished on both. And as a bonus, I actually got hardware.

HFP has started posting stuff on YouTube. I'm actually in one!

At around 5:55, right after the girl drops her bike, there's me in a royal blue trisuit. Note on the left leg there's a bulge and something white hanging out. Uh, yah, that would be my goggles and swim cap. I stuffed it in the leg heading into T1 and forgot to leave it in transition. Ops...

Just more random stuff from the race.

This was son1's first 70.3. Early in the day he decided just to do it, rather than race it. Good move. The run is an O&B that you do twice. We passed each other twice. The first time around his m4 he was looking great. At m11, not so much. But, at the finish he managed to out sprint someone. The announcer asked what that was all about--they weren't even in the same age group! He also snagged hardware.

And, long after son1 finished, along comes Mom. Son1 was nicely recovered and had a can of Coke waiting for me!

Yes, I did ride each and every one of those 56miles with the swim cap and goggles stuffed in my shorts. I was racked at the second rack in. I realized almost at the exit that that stuff was still there. There was so much traffic in transition that no way could I go back against traffic. I haven't been able to find another pair of goggles that I like so I wasn't going to just ditch 'em. Oh well. Stuff happens. Deal.

No, not done with the season! One last Oly on 9/19. Portage Lake is the series championship. Basically, all I have to do is complete this race and I will win my AG. Yah, even with all those crappy finishes, I've earned enough points! However, I really would like to break 3:00:00. I am coming off a 70.3, am training for a century bicycle tour next weekend, and really ramping up the run miles for an Oct marathon. So I think I'll be going into it with the best training all season.
