is this meant to be or a really baaaaaaaaaaad idea?

bwahahahaa

seriously, though, a local running friend just messaged me on FB letting me know about this one ... and I am hoping to try out a few hour run on Sat before work ...

if it weren't for the reason it's called 'broken toes' = fairly technical and that it's over 2 hours away and I have to be back home to work by 2 or so I might just be crazy enough to try this ... or maybe I still am that crazy ...

what size straighjacket do you think I need for even toying with this?

I say do it! What do you have to lose, a stupid toe nail. What is a little technical running among friends anyways? Besides you can consider this race a training race for when you run MMT or Grindstone if it makes you feel better.

I did a 55 miler last Sunday with a broken big toe (although a very minor fracture, which is now 3 weeks old). My podiatrist suggested I "let pain be my guide" - I did and the toe was fine.

If you are smart enough to call it a day if it starts hurting, I would say go for it.**

**Usual disclaimer that I don't really have a clue what I am talking about, let alone a medical degree or anything

Heh.

I looked at this earlier this week. If it were closer to me, I'd do it... despite my (or to spite my) mangled toes.

(BTW - I managed to whack the bejeebus out of that poor left big toe again this morning - on a sidewalk, of all things )

I will decide for sure tonight, after I hear back from the friend that suggested it ... but really, I was hoping for 20-25 miles tomorrow before work and with the drive time required to get to the race I wouldn't have time to fit in any extra milage even if my poor pinky is willing to be submitted to more abuse, haha ...

it is quite funny that this one came to my attention the week I broke my toe, ha.

dang ... it's sort of like that for me on the trails when I'm thinking I need to be extra careful not to "X" that's about the time I mess up something else ... focus needs to be on several things all at once on the trails, not just protective mode for one body part, haha ..
