Give me your ideas for your typical breakfast.

I am trying to get better at eating something nutritious to start my day. I'll admit, some Saturdays I buy breakfast tacos for my employees, so those days are a wash. I love my bacon and egg tacos!

But what do you guys usually eat in the AM?

Six days a week, it's a healthy cereal mix for me. I toss in blueberries, bananas, and walnuts.

On Sunday... oh yeah baby... omelets, buckwheat pancakes, some kind of turkey or chicken sausage.. bloody bulls... I like Sundays!

steel cut oats (cooked in the crock pot)
1/2 Tbs. brown sugar
1 Tbs. chopped walnuts
1 cup frozen mixed berries, thawed in micro (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries)
splash of milk

sometimes I add a scoop of protein powder mixed in to make it stay a little longer--eat at 6 a.m., usually not hungry until after 10 a.m. if I do that.

some mornings it's multi-grain toast with butter spray and cheese
others it's cereal with milk, perhaps with a little fruit thrown in. I also love Grape Nuts with milk and a little honey
Some mornings I'll have half a toasted pita with boca sausage

I pretty much have the same breakfast every morning. I soak rolled oats in milk and cinnamon the night before, then I microwave it in the morning. I ground my flax seeds in the morning, mix it with the oatmeal, then throw on a tablespoon or so of maple syrup. I've been doing this for a couple of years, and I still crave it when I get out of bed in the morning

I usually have grape nuts mixed with homemade granola (i have the recipe if you'd like it) with skim milk.

Also, ToeJam has an awesome pancake recipe that I have been making this week - huge and healthy (and low cal)! It's made mostly with egg whites, oats, & cinnamon. I'm sure she'd be happy to share the recipe or wouldn't mind if I shared.

I also have a piece of fruit or yogurt with some granola a couple hours after 1st breakfast.

2 eggs over easy
2 pieces of crisp bacon
Hashbrowns or grits
Toast w/jelly and butter
1 glass of milk

That is my prefered breakfeast but sometimes bisquits with sausage gravy, french toast or hotcakes.

I usually avoid most cereals and grains in the morning because I run in the morning and sometimes forces me to make a pit stop during the run. Interestingly if I have oats or some kind of cereal before bed, I have no problems.

I use 4 egg whites, 1/2 c. oats, about a 1/4 c. water, 2 packets of Equal (or you can use the stuff that measures like sugar and do like 2 T.), a dash of cinnamon and a dash of salt.

I whip it all together with a spoon for like 30 seconds til the eggs get "full or frothy". Then, I let it sit while I put on my make-up so the oats can soak up the water a bit. Then I pour it into an omellette pan sprayed with PAM cooking spray. Let it cook on one side til it is lightly browned and then flip.

I use spray butter and low sugar syrup. Or if I had a longer run before hand I top it with PB. The pancake itself is HUGE and only 222 calories

Let me know what you think....

TJ - thank you for planning tomorrow morning's breakfast.

I'm generally an oatmeal and raisins gal (easy to make at the office), tho I do often make the oatmeal with tea instead of plain water.

I love oats. I can eat them dry (it's become a bit of a snacking problem, actually ).

1. old-fashioned oatmeal, brown sugar, rice milk, almonds or walnuts

2. mixed rolled grains (5 grain mix), brown sugar, rice milk, almonds or walnuts

3. potatoes, green peppers, and onions. I micro-bake the potato, cube it, then add it to the veggies that I've stir-fried with some pam. I season it with Mrs. Dash SPICY! I've also added in mushrooms, very good.

I'm a fruit smoothie for breakfast girl... every morning. I just throw 3 to 4 different fruits into the blender. Some combinations turn out better than others! In the summer I toss ice cubes in and make it more like fruit slushees. It's also a good way to disguise any powdered supplements if you take 'em.

most mornings, i eat two poached eggs, two pieces of whole grain toast, coffee, and juice.

other mornings, i eat a bowl of oatmeal with PB and maple syrup (the real stuff, not the low or no sugar garbage), and have some coffee.

on weekends, i like to do pancakes or french toast... some mornings, i really have a hankering for pita, omelet, hummus, chopped salad, and pickle. those are great mornings, 'cause that breakfast is so easy to prepare, and so tasty.

all week i have been eating "couscous cake" that i made. It is an interesting recipe where you cook the couscous with rice syrup and apple juice, then press it into a spring form pan. I then cooked some applesauce, diced apples, cinnamon and raisins, and poured it on top and then covered with another layer of couscous. Once i got over the texture (weird eating couscous that way!) it was really yummy
