BQ! BQ! BQ!

Today, my husband qualified for the Boston Marathon by running the San Antonio Marathon in 3:12:06!!! I'm sooooo proud of him! I guess he has a good coach. ;) If you have been around for a while, you know that this has been his goal for about a year and a half. Last year, he aimed to improve halfway to his time, which he did. This year, he was going for it. Obviously, he crushed his goal time of 3:15. He will also run Houston in January. That was his backup race since the weather for SA is often questionable. It was good running weather, though -- 50s and cloudy. His goal for Houston is 3:10, as his brother will be running with him, and that's his BQ time. ;)

So, I guess we'll be making a trip to Boston in the spring of 2012!!! I hope we get to meet some LIT peeps! He's still on Cloud 9 and feels great!

I ran the half today and ran a great race. I haven't checked the official results, but my unofficial time was about 1:57, which is 3 mins. faster than I ran it 2 years ago. I did get stopped by a train at 0.8 mi. They say they are going to adjust the times, but I don't know how they know who was affected by the train. DH was past it, thank goodness (though he still would have qualified)! :) :)

I've been gone from the forum for a while. I did complete my second HIM a month ago. I beat my time from last time, but I had a horrible run, but the course was significantly harder than last time too. I had some issues with dehydration (opposite problem of last time). I did have an awesome bike of 18.2 mph. Overall, I was happy, but I was disappointed in my run. Sorry I never got a RR report written. Just thought I'd mention it.

Oh, and my son just turned 5 and is finally riding his bike without training wheels!

Thanks! He's still on Cloud 9. He's really glad the pressure is off for Houston. Now he can really go all out in that race to see what he can really do (or not do). :) He'll be running with his brother, who should qualify easily (missed it by 2 mins. in his first marathon a few years ago). I hope they have lots of fun. Plus, I won't be in Houston, so I really wanted him to qualify yesterday when I could see him finish. I almost missed him finishing because he was so fast, though. ;)

Yes, Hobey, apparently is was an unscheduled train and they will adjust times. Whatever! I really don't care. Without the adjustment, I was still in the top 9% among females. ;)

Julie- Yes, he has gotten faster fast!! Makes me jealous! In less than 3 years, he's cut almost an hour off his marathon time, and his first one wasn't so shabby at 4:04. I'm having a hard time cutting just 10 mins. off my HM time in the same amount of time! It just isn't fair! ;)
