OK, gee what to I say about myself. I normally don’t say a whole lot about oneself. But here it goes.

1. Why do you run?
I started running for the sheer pleasure of it. I started running marathons because my boss asked me to run one with him. Sure why not, can’t be that hard, I thought. I beat him that day by a good 10 minutes and have been hooked ever since.

2. What is your greatest accomplishment?
If it is limited to running, I would have to say qualifying for Boston in my second marathon.

3. What is your motto/theme song?
I can’t really say that I have one. I don’t listen to music while I run and I really don’t listen to the radio in the vehicle that often either. When I do, it is just for background noise.

4. How do you deal with bad runs?
I shake them off like no big deal. I don’t worry about it too much. I am very laid back type person and don’t let a whole lot of stuff bother me.

5. Do you reward yourself for good runs? How?
Nope! Well maybe a Sonic Blast every now and then, but I don’t equate that to a good run. Just because I ran good or bad, sometime I justify the dessert!

6. Who do you admire most?
I would have to say my wife. She is a great inspiration to me. She has had a hard life. She was born with club feet and has been in pain all her life. And better yet, what I admire most is that she supports me for anything and everything I want to do or buy.

7. What is the greatest advice you have ever received?
You can learn something from everyone that you meet! I live by that, I know as an officer that there will be soldier that work for me that are more knowledgeable than I in certain areas. And even if I work for someone that is a “dud”, I can learn something from them, even if it is the “what nots”.

8. I didn’t’ start running till 2002.

9. What do you wish you could do but can't?
Run pain free. I just recently found out that I have a degenerative joint in my knee. So pain has become a part of running over the past year or so. Some days are better than others. The doctors are still looking at options and I know stop running is not one of them.

10. How would your friends describe your personality?
I am definitely a Type A personality. I hate to be late and always have to be in control. I am a workaholic; if I am not working I have to be doing something. I can’t just sit around or I am a sleep.

11. What do you wear running? favorite outfit?
No favorites. Just shorts and a tank or t-shirt.

12. What has been your favorite race?
Most recently I ran the Marine Corps Marathon in DC. I ran it for a fellow officer (Eugenia) that lost her life to cancer in April 2007. She survived to combat tours and then lost her life to cancer. She left four kids and her husband behind. I ran this marathon for the American cancer society and carried a 3 x 5 American flag for Eugenia. It was a very emotional run and I was not prepared by no means. I ran the Army 10-Miler two weeks earlier and had to walk a part of it due to an injury. No pain though for the MCM, what a blessing from God that was.

It was by far one of the best races I have ever had; Marines snapping to attention and saluting as I ran by; encouragement and cheers from the crowd, and the support from fellow runners was unbelievable while carrying Old Glory. And now you can see why I answered 14 the way I did.

13. I am looking to complete at least two Tri’s Unfortunately my goal race I had planned is in June and I will be deployed to Iraq during that time frame.

14. I enjoy it, as I said I started running because of the sheer pleasure of it. However, I did find that I can now substitute my bike when ever I can’t run. (So now I see some Triathlons and Duathlons in my future)

15. I am a Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army. My specialty is an Airdrop Systems Technician. What does that mean? I deal with anything and everything that is airdrop out of an aircraft by parachute. We airdrop everything from water bottles to personnel to the Bradley tank. I absolutely love what I do and don’t regret one minute of serving my country. And to answer you question, yes I do jump out of a perfectly good airplane. Hey it is a rush what can I say.

16.
