We're flying in from Dublin on Saturday afternoon, so for sure if there's something happening I'd love to pop my head in and say hello ! (I'm running for a PB but under Irish rules a couple of pints on the day before don't count - its kind of like a dispensation...)
I hope to get some people who are willing to offer wisdom of where it would be fun to go and drink a pint or 2.

I am most likely to run a PW (Worst), so I may not even refuse beer during the marathon - Unless it is a bud.

Funny Budweiser story...I grew up in Holland and on a trip to the UK I was excited to see the pub I was at served good old American Budweiser. Well, I just had to order one to be a good American - it was stored in a separate fridge at a much colder temperature and was the worst thing I drank that night. Actually, it wasn't offensive - just more like beer-flavored water.

There are pubs all over - some fun places would probably be closer to BC or in Cambridge. There's an Irish pub (Americanized-Irish) on Boylston right near where they build the grandstand (right hand side of the road as the runners approach the finish line, same side as the convention center). Of course there's the Bull & Finch near Boston Commons (the Cheers bar).

Well something that I learned in College - Having a pint with someone from Ireland or Wales is always a good time. I spent 5 semesters in the international dorm at my college.

I hope we can get a few more people to do dinner or at least a pint, but I am in no matter what.

Sounds like we learned the same thing! I spent my junior year of college abroad in England, played rugby, ran cross-country and learned to properly consume good brews (and learned a few drinking songs in the process!) I won't be arrive in Boston until after 8pm Sat. so I'll probably miss out on the fun. Now Monday after the marathon....... I'm all up for celebrating as I don't fly out until Tues am.
