I know a couple of other folks here are doing the Boston Marathon this spring.

A friend of my coach is renting a motor coach (bus) to drive from downtown to the staging area in Hopkinton (the high school, if I remember correctly). This is a motor coach with a bathroom, not a school bus. The bus will stay at the staging area until the start of the 2nd wave. You'll be free to hang out on the bus for as long or short as you want. It won't take your gear back to Boston, you'll need to load that onto the race provided school buses. The bus will be leaving from the Public Garden downtown (near the Commons), probably about 6:30 am. Cost is $40, paid in advance by check.

I don't know this guy personally, but he seems pretty solid. This will be his 26th Boston marathon. He puts on a Boston training camp that I may or may not go to in a couple of weeks. He's one of my coach's best friends. So I have a level of comfort about him, but I can't really vouch for him. I'll be sending him my $40.

He still has seats available. If you're interested, email me at

Edited to add: I was a bit hesitant to post this on a forum. I trust most of the regulars on the multisport forum, but would ask that this not get cross-posted. Thx.

Is this Duke Hutchinson's bus? If so, BrewDad and a bunch of fellow Red Lizards will be on it and the Lizards who've done it before can't say enough good things.

Mike, no need for a bus for me... but in case you missed it, my honeymoon plans have me coming back into Boston on either Saturday or Sunday, so I registered for Boston... still might not run it if I'm really that tired, but I hope to at least jog along for another awesome running of this magnificent event. We MUST hook up at the finish or somewhere there after. I say at the finish because I cannot commit to meeting the day before due to me not having firm honeymoon plans. So let's be in touch later this month.

What was your qualifying time? I bet we're in the same start corral. Along I will not be running my qualifying pace, we could at least exchange hellos then.

I'm using Boston 2007 as my qualifier for 2008. I ran 2:58:11, so I'm expecting to be in corral 2, 1st wave which is same as last year.

I'm absolutely there for a hook-up. Was going to propose a pre- or post-race LIT get-together, but figured I'd wait until March to throw that out there. If other folks are up for that but your plans don't allow for a full blown LIT get-together, I'm more than up for at least a pre-race meetup or post-race beverage.

AWESOME... because with a 2:56:46 qualifying time, I bet we'll be staged in the same corral. I have a very busy few months ahead of me, so if we don't hook up in proper, let's look for each other in the corral. With that said, I will probably move back two corrals since I will not be racing. So I'll come into the area, hook up with you, chat a bit, and then move on back.

Not racing because, as you may remember, I will also be running London a week earlier. So it'll just be a fun run, and I'd rather not get caught up with the pace-setters, though if I see Lance I might get sucked into hanging out and trying to run with him for a mile or two just to say I ran with Lance!

You keep using that word(s). I do not think it means what you think it means.

Show of cyber-hands, who thinks Thor will just complete this marathon, and give a normal Thor-effort?

Careful, when I met Platzman, I had to stand out in the rain to talk to him.

Hey when you guys meet, that gives me a single degree removed from Thor, then two degrees from a bunch of others. Someone should start network of face-to-face meetings for LIT.
