Wow - we were lighting this forum up yesterday. I don't know about you, but I found it all to be pretty inspiring! Great job everyone yesterday.

I got up with morning (after a ridiculously bad night of sleep) and ran 7 with 9 striders in snain. Ouchy snain. Isn't is just a bit too late in the year for this?!?! GRRRR.

ew to snain

I ran 5.8 recovery too fast. Legs felt good last night - this morning...not so much. I will do some strides etc tonight (i.e. light speed work) if we don't get a bunch of snow by then. Who knows.

No snain here today, but it was cold. UnderArmour cold. And gloves. Pfffflllbt!

And I have also come to the realization that since I turned 40, it's like I lost a gear. I.am.slow.

Morning Gang -

Big woot to our Boston Runners! Anyone hear from Jill yet? Hope they are all recovering well and basking in their individual victories!

Today is the last day to register for NYC marathon and throw names in the lottery. Anyone in? I threw my name in, just so I can get started on getting rejected 3 times and be guaranteed entry for 2014. Now watch, I'll actually get selected for this year (which will mean I'll have some major ass-kissing to do to convince DH that I should be able to travel to another marathon this year; plus it's a month after TCM. So, really, I probably WILL get selected this year!)

8.5 miles done w/ a 30 minute tempo mixed in. Felt great.

Good runs to all!

Woot for NYCM!! I am not throwing my name in the lottery hat just yet though. I am determined to try to qualify for it. My best chance is in the half. Of course, I have no halves lined up right now, but that is my goal before I ever head to the big apple to race.

Good morning everyone. I am very proud of our 30s friends on their Boston victories! I hope for more stories today. Thanks for sharing Duck.

*sigh* Just a weird night and morning. I stayed up late for me (midnight) watching a dvd. For some reason I just did not want to go to bed. I knew that I would not be ready for a run a little over 5 hours later. That would not have me rested enough. I am a tad nervous about my left calf. Every now and then it will twinge on me since Saturday. I am worried it will act up on my next run. So what I have decided to do is to switch workout days. I slept a little over an hour later this morning to compensate for going to bed late. Yet I didn't sleep worth a crap. *sigh* I will complete my stationary bike workout as soon as I get off work today (what was scheduled for tomorrow). This gives me one more day rest for the calf. Then tomorrow morning I hopefully will have a pain free 3 miler (scheduled for today). Maybe I'm doing the right thing by listening to my body and being cautious without missing a workout. Dunno. I just have a weird mental and psychological mojo going. LOL Hard to explain. I know you have all been there before and know what I mean. Weird stuff but it's cool.

It was such an exciting day yesterday in the running forum. Thank you to those who gave the many updates during the morning. I enjoyed it.

Runninlaw has no HMs lined up and I have 2 in the month of May. There's something very wrong with this picture. Yes, folks, I have lost my mind. I am now doing a HM on May 1st and May 21st. What do I do for long runs in between that? 10 and 8?

Good morning, ladies. I hope everyone is well this morning.

Heh RFTL, good luck on the NYCM lottery, I guess. I got in thru the lottery on my 3rd try. I had just assumed that I'd get rejected again and would have to do it on the 4th year. I'm sure I'll do NYC again some day... But I'm not in any hurry to do it soon. It's the closest marathon to my house, and I still had to wake up 6 hours before I began the race. It's quite an experience. Just not one I'm ready to re-live quite yet...

It's still snowing out where you guys live?? Seriously, I don't know why people live there...

I ran at the track yesterday. I meant to do 4 miles at about 8:30 pace. But at one point, a high school kid was on my 6, and seemed content to just shadow me. I have no idea why. So I kept gradually increasing my pace, just to see if he would keep up. He tried, but he finally bailed once I reach a 7:40 pace. That made me feel good. Of course, at this point, I was only halfway done with the run, and I didn't want to slow back down. So I finished my 4 miles at an average pace of 7:52. Probably a lot faster than I should have gone, this close to an ultra. But what the heck, I felt good. I'll probably need to take today off though...

Oh, I checked the weather for my ultra on Saturday, and it calls for a high of 62 with a 70% chance of rain. Gee, that'll be fun. Nothing like being out there for 5+ hours in the rain. Chafe city!

I wrote "good morning, ladies" before I saw Maples' post. I did not intend to imply that you're a lady too. So good morning to you too, Maples!

Morning peeps! First off, thanks to all of our Boston runners - you inspired me in huge ways! I decided that I liked the run home from the office so much yesterday that I'd do it again today, will be tacking on a few more miles if we're not in the middle of a downpour to get a bit longer of a run.

NYCM - I'm registered (had guaranteed entry) for this year as well! It's just 3 weeks after Grand Rapids so it'll be strictly for fun.

Thanks for the reminder about NYC! I just threw my name in the lottery. I was supposed to run this in 2006 but I got pregnant with Lena and it didn't happen. I was hooked up with a charity team so I was given entry for 2007. But I didn't feel ready to do it seeing as I'd just had Lena. And so I lost my entry altogether. I applied in the lottery last year, didn't get in. So this is my second try. I'd love to get in so I could do a marathon before I turn 40 later this year (it would only be my second). But if it doesn't happen, at least it puts me that much closer to getting in by default. I'd like to think I could qualify for it, but I really don't think I'll ever be that fast. I guess some people might think I don't deserve to run it because of that, but it sure would be neat.

Nice run in the sun this morning. Then when I got out of the shower it was grey and rainy. *sigh* I want nice weather already!

Ha. It shows that you rawk and I am a slacker !!! Maybe I'll sign up for the Madison half to keep up with you. :) I think you are okay doing 8 then 10. You'll want to make sure you fully recover from the first one before you start cranking into the second. Sometimes we (this means me really) forget how much a hard effort HM can take out of you! I'd play it a little by ear depending on how your first race goes. If you run it really hard, take all the time you need to recover the next week. If you take it easier, stick to the longer run on the weekend (8-10).
I have the same workout on tap today too. Did an easy 5 yesterday after watching Boston coverage. Very inspired to head out to cincy and run my best marathon ever...I hope. Oh and I had crap for sleep too. Looks like I'll get that run in late afternoon. I have a track club executive counsel meeting tonight.

NYCM - I'm in the lottery for this year. I'll turn 40 in October, after that, I may have chance at qualifying for the next one.
