1. Why do you run?
Though I have never been particularly skilled at running (i.e. fast), I have always truly enjoyed running and it was the one exercise that actually helped me lose weight during high school. I’ve never ran on the track or cross country teams in school because I thought I would embarrass myself if I did. However, I would run 2-3 miles almost everyday after school on my own. Through college and getting into the real world, the amount I ran varied drastically, though I never gave it up completely. Then a little over 1.5 years ago, I was introduced to the Team In Training program and it touched me because I have a cousin with Leukemia. It combined the 2 things I loved – family & running. It took my running to a whole new level, but I am still not fast. Even though I have spent most of this year sidelined with various injuries, I am excited about getting back into running again. It kills me to read about all the running you all do when I know that I am doing nothing. You all are so motivating and inspiring that it brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it…and I’m not usually an emotional person. Thank you…all of you!

2. What is your greatest accomplishment?
Ok – this is a very hard question. I’m very self critical and I feel like I have so much potential that I haven’t lived up to that it’s hard to know what I should actually be proud of. But, if I had to name something, I guess it would be graduating college with honors and a 3.98 GPA (1 stinkin’ B out of 177 credit hours – grrrr!!!). I worked 3 jobs (60-70 hrs a week) and took 20+ hrs of classes a semester while in college. But school comes easy to me, so I don’t think it’s that big of a deal.

3. What is your motto/theme song?
Motto: Attitude determines everything.
Theme Song: Hangin Tough by New Kids on The Block! OK, just kidding – I don’t really have a theme song.

4. How do you deal with bad runs?
Just shrug it off – I don’t dwell on bad things. It’s just not my style.

5. Do you reward yourself for good runs? How?
Sometimes – after a good LONG run, I will treat myself to Chipotle’s. I know I shouldn’t, but damn those burritos are good!

6. Who do you admire most?
My MIL – In many ways, I wish she were my real mother.

7. What is the greatest advice you have ever received?
Everything happens for a reason, so learn to go with the flow.

8. What do wish you had learned younger?
That it is okay to not be perfect – no one is. Also, don’t let the negative attitudes of others keep you from reaching your dreams….that’s a big one for me!

9. What do you wish you could do but can't?
A cartwheel – I have NEVER EVER been able to do one. I get ½ way up and then just flop over. If it wasn’t so pathetic, it’d be funny! LOL!

10. How would your friends describe your personality?
Genuinely happy, compassionate, a willing listener and a complete smart alek

11. What do you wear running? favorite outfit?
Clothes! We have every season here, so I run in a wide variety of things. There is no one thing that I have to have with me on every run.

12. What has been your favorite race?
I haven’t been in many races, so it would HAVE to be the Nike Women’s Marathon. It was worth every bit of pain I felt during it (& rehab afterwards)!

13. Do you have a goal race right now?
Honestly – no. But I do have a list of races/marathons that I want to run someday – I just need to get back into running so I can make those goals become reality.

14. What makes you happy?
My dog’s wagging tail, my kitty curling up to sleep with me and my husband’s warm hugs!

15. Tell us one interesting thing about you that you haven't said (at least not often) on this forum in the past.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE school – and I’m talking about the whole package – classes, tests, papers, etc. If I could afford to be a professional student, I would so be there! My dream is to one day be a college professor. Of all my dreams, I think it is probably the most realistic one for me! Oh, and I used to compete in beauty pageants when I was in high school! But you’d never know that to look at me now…hehehe

16.
