depends on what you want to measure. How your clothes fit, how much gravity is attached to you, or BF %?

I have a Tanita Ironman scale and it's been a very consistant indicator of weight and BF. It's unclear if BF is right, but it's consistant... and it's right on when I've retained a lot of water (ala after a long event or hard training weekend.. I'll have a couple lbs of water extra and it shows it).

I weight in every day. Same time, same ritual, and it helps keep me honest

There was a study done back in 07 that compared a DEXA scan (the most accurate way possible to measure body fat) and the Tanita scale, and they say there was better than a 96% level of agreement. Whatever that is, I got that out of my Racing Weight book.

I've been using a Tanita for awhile, its good, but you can't do your body fat the first thing in the morning, it will be inaccurate. You really need to measure it after you have eaten and are well hydrated to get an accurate level. When I measure, I do it in the afternoon. Also wet your feet a bit before stepping on.

EDIT: When I say after you have eaten, the book says a few hours after not right after. I'll do it around 3:30 - 4PM at least two hours after I've eaten lunch.

They have come down in price and now have a hand meter that attaches to the scale for 6 points of contact. I am just wondering how much more useful it is over just weight.
