Anyone have experience with the Topeak Comp 140 - with cadence? It's $30 on Amazon with free shipping: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...pr_product_top

I'm tempted by the price and good reviews, but thought I'd check here first. Thanks!!

That's a nice price for a computer with cadence. You need to run a long wire from left side chainstay all the was up to the handlebars, a long run of electrical tape can do a fairly clean job, but it's always kind of messy. I've had good luck by gluing a small magnet onto the inside of the pedal spindle with epoxy rather than using the ones that come with the computers that mount on the crnak arm. It's nice having cadence sometimes, you may have to fiddle with the sensor from time to time when it stops picking up.

I had to tape mine to the crank arm....
it kept slipping....attached with a zip tie only.
It stays, now...but I was cussin' something fierce at first.

I made a round or two of athletic tape over the zip tie, and just under it, to make a "shelf" of sorts...but not that much. Just enough so that it can't slip. Then, if I ever have to take it off, the tape will come off easier than glue.

Plus, I don't have any epoxy. (*shrug*)

Interesting, John - has anyone called you McGyver, yet? That sounds like a good fix. I'll keep it in mind. It's not a problem that it's not wireless for the front wheel either, right? Again, just run the wires?

Thanks for the tips - I've never had cadence, so I wasn't sure where that mounted, etc. New bike is on its way, so I want to get it outfitted properly!

the wire for the front sensor will be longer than it needs to be, so you run it up the right side fork leg with the supplied zip ties, then wrap it around the brake housing for the front brake, neatly, to take up the additional slack in the wire. You can also do this wrapping trick on the cadence wire. Just take your time and you will get a nice tidy install. I've found over time that I didn't really use the cadence much, so I snipped off the wire and just used the speed function, the computer works fine with the cadence wire removed.
