I'm looking for some large, fast 5ks for the spring -- and by that I mean I'm looking for a lot of competition through through the 15s and 16s. I would love to stay within a few hours of Philly, but I'll travel for the right race.<br><br>
So far I've got 2:<br><br>
3/15/2008, Adrenaline 5k, Haddonfield NJ, 21 runners sub 16:30 in 07 (<a href="http://www.lmsports.com/ban07.htm" target="_blank">http://www.lmsports.com/ban07.htm</a>)<br><br>
8/24/2008, Chris Thater Mem5k, Binghamton NY, 49runners sub 16:30 in 07, (<a href="http://www.triplecitiesrunnersclub.org/y2007/Thater5KOverall.htm" target="_blank">http://www.triplecitiesrunnersclub.o...r5KOverall.htm</a>)<br><br>
If anyone knows of any races like these, or maybe some 5ks associated with larger races (like they do with the Rothman 8K & the Philly Marathon)? I would love any links.<br><br>
Appreciate the help!

Are there an all-comers meets in Philly with a 5,000? I think that would be pretty cool to race a 5,000 with people at similar ability levels...a great chance to test out some tactics. In road races it's usually the case that you get into whatever place you will ultimately finish after about a half mile!

I'm sure there are some invitationals that I could try to get into. Like <a href="http://www3.widener.edu/SiteData/docs/WidenerInvite07/d5af3c94fc21b311acc72266365069e0/WidenerInvite07.htm" target="_blank">this one</a> looks pretty good.<br><br>
I will have to find some people who are into the track scene around here. I have never run one.<br><br>
Someone also pointed out to me that the Flying Pig this year is the RRCA champs for the 5k, which would usually mean a fast field, although it's a new location this year.

<a href="http://www.roadntracksports.com/Moonlight/home.htm" target="_blank">Is CT too far to travel?</a> It ain't huge (825 runners), but it's fast. It's right next to CTTim's house and maybe 45 minutes from mine.

Sure - why not? Don't be such a wussbag!<br><br>
Trust me, you could bust a$$ in the 5k, and the next day run a nice solid pace of 7:00-7:15 to just get your qualifier. Would make the trip to the 'Nati more worthwhile than just running a 5k!
