Okay, I've been riding my beautiful road bike every day to deal with the Never-Ending Stress Fracture issue. My thumb hurts to rotate--- both a little, but the right one much more so. I can pop them and make the pain subside (and completely disappear in the left hand) but it's back each morning. They can still move every way that I need them too and there's no numbness or anything.

Need I be concerned?

Hey,

I don't know a lot about bicycle-related injuries, but I am guessing it is good that you aren't feeling numbness/tingling, which would suggest carpal tunnel issues to me.

Some of the skimming I did at a bicycle forum seems to suggest that the fit of the bike can have something to do with it? Or that something called "rotating the hoods inward a slight amount" can help? I have no idea what that phrase means, though!

I hope some more riders can add their experience here!

i tend to think maybe too much weight being supported by your thumbs. maybe a seat, a handlebar, headset adjustment is needed??

My hands tend to feel tingly when I ride, but it goes away right after.

That's what I was thinking. Also, rest your thumb along the length of the handlebar, not wrapped around it. This may indicate that you need to strengthen your core.

I'm highly impressed that your copious amounts of bike riding is only leaving you with a sore thumb. I wouldn't be able to walk!
