OK, I'm slowly converting. Perhaps not 24/7 just yet, but I've been looking for more and more things to try instead of meat dishes and so far I'm having a ball making and trying new stuff. I collect cookbooks and I do have one that has a lot of veggie recipes in it, but I can always use more sources. Which are your favorite cookbooks or online sources for vegetarian recipes??

Hey! Good on you for wanting to incorporate more veggie stuff in to your diet. Once you get into it, you'll find it's just easier to be full time veg. I did like you saying "I'll be as veg as I can, when it's possible." After about 2 wks, I got tired of the hassle and just went full veg. Anyway, the first cookbook I had was Linda McCartney's book "Linda's Kitchen". It has a good variety of recipes that aren't complicated to make. Lemon Green Beans and the Mushroom Risotto are family staples now!! You can also find some good veg books at the bargain section of Barnes and Nobles or Borders. I almost always end up with a new cookbook when I go there. Some of them are better than others...

My fave website is foodnetwork.com. You can search by ingredient even. Allrecipes.com and Epicurious are also yummy. I get the Epicurious emails every week and they always include a veg recipe in their "featured recipes".

Have fun discovering new foods/cuisines! I think I eat more diverse now than before I went veg. PM me if you have any more questions!

My absolute favorite cookbooks are:

You can't go wrong with any of Deborah Madison's books, or the Moosewood cookbooks. I also subscribe to the Vegetarian Times' weekly recipe email. There are always good ideas there, and it's free.

Moosewood books are always good. I like to buy used books on amazon. i have gotten some very cheap books on there i read a lot of reviews on amazon.com as well.

i have a cookbook that i have not made a lot of recipes from, but in the back it tells you how to cook every vegetable and also other things like, how to make polenta, etc. Good resource. I can look up the name when i get home.

I can't believe it's out of print, witchy. That's an outrage!
Have you seen her "Vegetarian Suppers" book? It's wonderful. For the mushrom tart alone, it's worth the investment. And I think I posted a divine recipe for a goat cheese souffle here once, from that book.

the best, best thing about her meals is that even devout meat eaters love them. and, they don't call for all sorts of things to which i am allergic.

i love her. i wonder - if i sent her an invitation - would she come to supper?

I just got this one:

I haven't fixed anything from it yet, but everything looks VERY VERY GOOD.

I am home and found the book:

This is a good reference book if you never make one recipe out of it!

I have a very old copy of Laurel's Kitchen that I love.

I have a few recipes from it that I've made over and over. I learned how to bake whole wheat bread (back when I had the time) from that book.

Yes! That Jaffrey book is amazing! However I had one of her older books which was more about Indian vegetarian cooking, can't recall the name at the moment. I used the soymilk recipe in it many times.

Funny thing is, I hardly drink soymilk anymore. But I loved making my own back in the day. It tastes much better than the stuff you buy in the store.
